Hello
So I bought both Ethyl Maltol Crystals and Sweetener from Perfumers Apprentice.
The sweetener tastes very sweet, very concentrated.

Im new to this Ethyl Maltol though, it came as crystals and I tasted some of it and it had very odd taste to them,
bitter and something else.

Then I followed some specs that said to dissolve 1/4 teaspoon with 10ml PG,
But instead I made a bigger batch with half a teaspoon in 20ml PG.

Now the crystals wont fully dissolve.. ive tried warming the solution in the microwave,
ive shaken the hell outta the jar. Here are 3 photos. If I leave the solution fora minute the crystals sink to the bottom
as you will see in the first photo.

The taste of the solution is not sweet to me.. I don't know maybe my taste buds are shot to hell.
I would love some input what you think about EM and if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks!

Try this too... pour solution and undiluted crystals into pyrex bowl (anything clear). Allow crystals to settle to bottom. Use something to stir them around while allowing them to remain on the bottom. If any crystals still remain, draw up only the clear solution into a syringe. Filter through another syringe with a cotton ball or two stuffed in it into the dispensing bottle.

EM is very different then sweetener. Sweetener is sacarlos like splenda which is a true sweetener and EM is a molecule that gives the perception of sweetness but is not really a true sweetener like sacralous. It's also more forgiving if you overuse it. It's not unusual for crystals to be present it just means the base is over saturated. Give it a few days to see if it disolves if not it's ok to use it that way. next time you mix it just use a little less.
