I ALWAYS check my battery/carto after the first few puffs after a refill, too make sure it's not soaking in juice. I tend to clean them off regardless if there is leakage or not. Some times when I clean them there is black stuff on the battery/carto connection, looks like ash. I've flooded my cartos twice today (without soaking the battery) and both times the juice has come out darkend. It was brown with pink juice and black with some brown juice.

I'm using an Ego with Boge 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 ohm cartos and juice from Alien Vision and MadVape's USA. Any idea what is going on?

Juices tend to darken with heat and that may be all it is, but there's also the possibility you've singed your carto. If you're not getting at least a hint of charcoal taste it's probably just the juice turning dark.

Alien Visions is pretty thick VG isn't it? You may need to thin that with distilled water or edible pure grain alcohol. Stuffing type cartos work best for me with juices with 20% VG or less. Somebody said the dual coil cartos work well with thicker juices but you should not use them on a slim ecig since they are LR (LR stuff can damage slim batteries and should be used on batteries 450mah or greater).

And dark juices and non-clear juices often have flavorings that leave sediment. That stuff can gather at the threaded end of the carto and come out when you have overfilled the carto or not cleaned it up properly after filling. The sediment can also clog the carto causing the juice and air to have a harder time moving through the carto. I now avoid juices with sediment. I like juices that leave my carto stuffing looking as white as new. My current fave juices are Vapor4Life WOWbacco (a very cocoa tobacco, a clear light liquid), Vapor4Life WOW Vanilla (a sweet marshmallowy vanilla and a light clear juice), and Gourmet Vapor vanillarum in 80pg/20vg (again, light and pretty clear). The two WOW juices have a nice sharp edge to their hit as long as you have nicotine in them.

If there is a higher VG juice I like and want to put in cartos I might cut it 50/50 or more w/ a similarly flavored PG juice. Or I vape the thicker juice dripping on a atomizer, maybe thinning a it a bit for flow.

The coil in the carto can singe the juice a bit. The carto can be singed if you let it get too dry. And many juices leave behind flavoring sediment which can be dark, especially if it has been cooked a while by the coil.

After 7 months of using cartos, I now use only thin juices in cartos, 20% or less VG, and I stick with light color juices that leave little or no flavoring sediment. Sometimes I can use a carto for a week and the the stuffing will still be white.
