I'm not sure if I'm overfilling or if this is normal, but I find that after a while my Boge 2.0 ohm cartos will leak some juice onto the post of my KGO battery. Sometimes juice is also in the threads. If I take a few drags and remove the carto, there generally isn't any juice in the threads or on the post, but if I keep a carto on while I have it in my pocket, or attached to the battery sitting on my desk, I'll end up with a layer of juice on the battery post and down into the recess around the post.

I've been wiping it up with either a tissue or a paper towel, whatever is handy, and using a paperclip to clean out juice from the recess, but it's getting to be a tad annoying. I'm seeing the issue with all of my cartos, so I'm pretty sure it's not just that one is leaky or defective. All I can think is that either I must be over filling them or using the incorrectly, or the Boge LR cartos have leaking problems, which would surprise me seeing how many people swear by them.

Attached is a picture I took of how the filler material usually looks a few minutes after a top-off.

Watch when u fill them that the juice does not go down the center hole I did that a few times myself messy messy messy. Tilt the carto to the side and drip while rotating the carto like you would pour a beer.....to top off a couple of drops turning it as you go. Keep the filler moist so you don't get dry hits.If you get juice in the center just blow it out from the top into a piece of paper towel.I hope this helps:D

I'm fairly certain I'm not getting juice down the center post. I have before, and yes, mess city. It almost seems like it's coming out of the air holes above the threads on the carto...I don't see any other way that it would be able to get the threads wet like it is.

I have to just be over saturating the filler. I'm sure I'll get it figured out eventually.

Below is now I fill, cleanup, settle, keep damp. My cleanup helps prevent leaks (as does the settle for freshly filled blanks) regardless of how you filled.

Other things that help avoid leaks onto the battery - lay the battery on its side when not vaping, pocket it carto dow. Also sometimes the big batteries build up a bit of heat suction or something that pulls back down when you stop dragging - to reduce that, let up on the manual button slightly before the end of your drag. That way the end of your drag will cool the inside of the carto slightly before you stop dragging.

How I fill a cartomizer (Vapor4Life/Bloog/Volt for KR8 or Boge 510 for 510 which are all soft-cap w/ no inner seals and defined central air channel)

I use thin (20% or less VG) liquid or Vapor4Life WOW liquids, preferably clear liquids w/ no sediment

Filling a blank carto - I pop off the soft cap (unbent paperclip carefully in the mouth hole, not catching any wires or stuffing!). I hold some tissue against the threaded end hole (or you could use the carto condom spike to plug the hole). I tilt the carto and slowly drip 18 drops (per ml of carto capacity and these are 1ml cartos, and you may have to wait for the first few to wet the stuffing) onto the inner wall of the carto so it slides down into the stuffing while I rotate the carto. Then I wait 15 seconds or so then I drip however many more drops the stuffing wants to soak up (usually 4-8).

Cleanup: Then I do clean-up. If it is leaking, I clean that up. Then I tilt the open end down into the tissue and puff into the threaded end to clear any juice out of the central air channel (I want to see light through there). With the carto still tilted with open end down I gently touch a bit of tissue to the stuffing (otherwise that liquid will be gurgling or spitting in my mouth). (And instead, if I really want to avoid leaks I touch the soft bit of tissue to the stuffing while puffing into the threaded end.)

Settle: Then since this was a fresh fill of a blank, I now let it settle. I lay the carto on different sides and the ends over 15-20 minutes. Then it should be ready to vape. If you use thicker juices than me, then you may need to let it settle longer.

As I am vaping - if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or tastes bit off or the carto is getting unusually warm, I will take the carto off the battery, open it, add 4-8 drops or whatever it seems to want (I will either hold a bit of tissue against the threaded end hole just in case, or skimp on how many drops I add to make sure I avoid drips if I have no tissue). I check to make sure the threaded end is dry, give it a couple of puffs into the threaded end to make sure the air channel is clear, and continue to vape.

Note - it is easy for me to "open" my main cartos for adding juice because I replace the white end cap with a plastic or delrin drip tip (I get them at LiteCigUSA.net). So I can easily pull that out with my fingers when I add juice and it keeps my lips cool if the carto is hot. I can also pull off the drip tip to check if the top of the stuffing has gone white and could use some juice.

I use Smoketech LR XL stainless cartos. I haven't had a leak year in four months of vaping.

Overfilling can be a culprit here. Check that the tube is clear after filling by holding it up to a light. Lightly blow it out through the mouthpiece end onto paper towel if not.

When refilling the carto I always grab some kleenex or paper towel and clean of the center post on the 510 connector. Some vapor always condenses there. Keeping this clean may avoid electrical contact issues later down the road.

Thanks for the write-up! I do something very similar, but you have a couple tidbits that really make sense that I hadn't even thought to do in there. I'm 100% sure I've been over saturating at this point, and I really haven't been waiting much at all after filling / refilling for juice to settle.

Drip tips - I'm pretty sure you're one of the folks who told me to get drip tips in one of my first three threads, and I did. I got them from Hoosier for $2/pop, which may or may not be too much but at this point I don't care. They came in yesterday, and there is so much difference in vaping with them it's astounding. No more juice splashing into my mouth, none filling the center hole or escaping that chintzy little rubber cap, no more hot, sticky lips...THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you. I figured they were meant to be used primarily for dripping as the name suggests, or for the cool kids out there, kind of like a stem for cigarettes. When you open your mind, all kinds of things are possible, I just have to remember to keep it a little bit closed so I don't go broke =).
