Do sweet juices shorten carto life and how to get more from my cartos?

I guess my question says it all. I have been using an eGo 900mah and Boge lr 2.0 cartomizers. Even though I am fairly new to this, I have quite a collection of juice, mostly pg/vg mixed. I fill my cartos using the condom method, and then drip juice into the top around the edges until I see that it's nice and full. I never let them get dry, always keep them nice and juicy. I have some sweet juices and some not-so-sweet juices. It seems to me that my sweet juices are gunking up the filler in my cartos faster than the not-so-sweet juices.

I can see tiny black spots around the top of the filler, and they don't seem to give good flavor after the first couple of drags. My cartos are each dedicated to 1 flavor, and it's hard to keep track of how many refills I have gotten because I top it off regularly. Is it my imagination, or do sweet juices shorten the life of a cartomizer?

**I want my cartos to last a long time. I have been trying to take care of them the way I should. I want to refill them many times before throwing them in the trash. What is the best way to do this?

**Am I doing something wrong?

**If so, would it help to switch to a regular Boge carto for my sweet juices? Or would that even make a difference?

**Perhaps go with more pg?

**Can you remove the filler from the carto before cleaning and replace it with fresh filler? Seems to me it would get a better cleaning... What would I use to fill it, and how much filler to use?

Those tiny black spots are probably indications that you've burned the filler. That would explain why you aren't getting the taste you're expecting. I don't think this has anything to do with whether or not a juice is sweet or not. All I vape are sweet mixes and I haven't noticed any difference in the life of my cartos.

LR atties and cartos can be tricky. They heat up faster and can burn out quicker.

You didn't say what mix of PG/VG you were using. If it's high in VG (more than 70%) then I would say add more PG. I vape a 60PG/40VG mix and that seems to work just fine for me.

Removing the filler in a carto is a PITA, so I wouldn't suggest it. Cartos are cheap enough that you can just throw them away when they've outlive their usefulness.

I agree completely with WoH here.

The key to using LR cartos is to remember they eat juice faster. Keep em wet and fill them more often than you would with SR cartos.

I agree with both the above but aren't some juices, especially sweet fruit juices, also more acidic? I repeatedly see this referred to with tank cracking and other problems on the clearomizers. Is that a myth? It makes sense to me but I haven't actually pulled oh the ph strips and tried to correlate it with some real-world test. -Magnus

Anecdotal evidence suggests that certain juices are atty killers and carto killers.

Thanks everyone! So, am I right then, that the cartos with black are should be thrown out? I hate to throw them out, they were my first...

More questions:

**So my juice will last longer in a reg carto? Do the reg cartos last longer than the lr's?
**Just how much difference is there in the vaping experience with the reg cartos vs. the lr's?

I'm going to start diy-ing soon, so I can adjust my flavors. I like them strong and sweet.

Yes sweet juices will build up gunk and shorten the life of attys and if you don't clean inside your battery, they will short out too if its an auto. I had one sweet juice form a hard like substance on the inside of my battery and had to take a scraping tool to get it off and it was hard to get off. Not even a 99 percent iso alcohol soak got it off.
