Does anyone know if this black-button version of the manual PT has been replaced with a new gold-button model like the manual batteries? I received one with my starter kit exactly a month ago, liked it so much that I bought two more (one for the hubby, one for the office). On the one that I use the most, the button has gotten all wonky - have to push it just right to get it to work, and sometimes it gets stuck inside the tube and won't come out.

Figured I would ask the experts here first - I don't want to put in a CS ticket if there's an easy fix, hate to waste their time like last time when all I had to do was pull out the battery post. But if it's a design issue and not user error, then I won't feel bad at all about notifying them. Seems to me that 30 days is a shorter life-span than I should expect, no?

All the manual pt's are the gold button as far as I know Krashnash (brain just went dead, it's Ms. right?). If they have any black ones left Wader sir is the best person to ask, or he might be by to answer himself...

There are a couple of fixes for wonky (not dead) buttons that I've found... One is to blow in it (suggest drinking water before hand, or at least had nothing sticky for a bit before you do it), the other is to massage the button for a bit... It sometimes pops it back into shape. Hope this helps. :)

. . . the other is to massage the button for a bit... It sometimes pops it back into shape. Hope this helps. :)

That reminds me of a joke we used to do in college involving a cloth napkin . . . OMG, I cannot believe I just went there!
Bad Mordo! Bad man!!:p:p:p (Like it was YOUR fault!)

Mary Kay, that's what I thought, and I've picked up another XL black button batt for my next order.... I'm fine with that as long as it's sold as clearance and at a discount, but I would hope that the one that I purchased with a new starter kit at regular price 30 days ago would be new stock. I'm a bit confused also as both the pass thru in the bargain bin and the one on the accessories page show the same picture (gold button) and same price. Would hate to think that they are discontinuing the pass-thru entirely, it's by far my favorite way to vape.

Eh, I'm still confused, but that might just be me. I *thought* I remembered the black button ones being discontinued, presumably to be replaced by the gold button ones. But both the bargain bin and the regular accessories page show the same model, both with a gold button. I don't want to order a replacement with a black button if that change was a design enhancement. And I don't want to contact CS if the problem is something I can fix myself (like a battery post adjustment). If I can't, then I will request replacement of the starter-kit PT, and live with my other one until it dies, since I knew that it was a "bargain bin" clearance item, and I accepted that it might not be the "latest and greatest" in exchange for a lower price. Clear as mud?

I ordered one of the bargain bin ones, gold button (that's why I suggested contacting Wader sir to see if any were left with the black). It's just as good as my original, why I think the reason is overstock that they're even there... The gold buttons sometimes get a little wonky (I've had six that started having minor issues, was able to fix with the blow and massage technique, let the jokes commence)...

keelala, now I've confused you too - sorry! I don't know if there is a difference, but the black button *batteries* are on clearance and I thought the PTs were too. Guess not, given that the price is the same and that people ordering the bargain bin ones are getting gold buttons, so Morandir is probably right about overstocks. Didn't mean to muddy the waters, just trying to pick the brains of the experts here before bothering CS. I should be able to request a gold-button one for replacement, even though black-button is what I have, shouldn't I?

Morandir, I tried blowing and massaging, since that technique is effective for *so many* problems.... if anything now it's worse. When I do get it to fire it won't stop and the button is retreating farther into the tube.
(Do you have any idea how hard it was to write that paragraph and stop at only one double entendre?)

So far seems like they're gold buttoned Ms. Keelalagirl. Wader sir or one of the other greats will hopefully pop in to clarify. :)

Sorry to make you repeat that Morandir Dear....I got lost in my head and forgot you had addressed that in the post prior:blush: Thank you:)

I like my black one....I got the other one for my mom and hope it's gonna be okay...it's the gold button one (I don't think she'd like the lavender)

keelala, now I've confused you too - sorry!

It's not that hard to do...lol....actually I didn't even notice when I tested the black one that it was gold and my lavender one was black....then I went into a tizzy trying to remember where I put the black one...stashed it away till I could get it to my dear stubborn mother:)....head has been pretty foggy most of the day....

I tried moving it around without pressing the button, also held the button down and rotated it a few times while depressed. The latter seemed to help - it will make contact then, but either the top of the button slides into the case or it just keeps crackling after I've let go of the button. That works for a couple of tries, and then I have to rotate the button while it's pushed in and push it several times to get it to go. I stopped messing with it because the cord started getting hot, which makes me nervous.

I'd kind of like to take it apart and see how it works, but I'd really rather just not have to worry about it and have one that works. I switched to hubby's gold-button copper PT, no issues. Will have to compare it to the other lavender PT at my office and see how it behaves.

I did notice that the threads on the connector seem to be a bit dirty - reminds me that I need to post a question on how to best maintain a battery.
