They had gold button batts then added black button, we are back to gold. I like the gold better because they are closer to the batt.

@ Mary Kay - thanks for chiming in! I must have started buying right in the middle of the latest switch - all of my batteries (now) are gold button, but I just ordered a black bargain-bin button. (Say that 10x fast!) It's interesting to know the changes.
