I posted this in another forum but it didn't get much traction. Black rda's are showing up more and I haven't heard much about the process.

Are they coated?

With what?

Is it safe?

If it is black stainless how does that work?

Anyone with knowledge or that owns one your input would be great.

I want to buy one but not if it's not safe or will not have the flavor I am looking for because of the coating.

You are talking about things made in the country that painted children's toys with lead paint. If I were an unscrupulous guy with a small shop I would use whatever was cheap to make it black.

Most of the clones still have whatever they used as oil during machining still on them.

Well hell p7 that was the most helpful information I've received on this site so far. Your knowledge of the process and coating was incredible.

OP
No one knows what it's going on with those. But i will join those who do not trust seller on item without proper description. I will not buy it unless they do provide full info on that - i mean full. And when they don't - to me that mean something wrong behind that and it's not for me.

Ok, when it's no correct info on product anywhere, members posting there's opinion and your reaction... as minimum disrespectful IMHO.
Best luck.

Laylel, Your intelligent, well thought out and stated beliefs on the topic are appreciated. That's what I was hoping to get was either first-hand experience, fact or well like I said intelligent, well thought out and stated beliefs.

In my experience when someone is looking to be educated or looking for help you don’t throw the obvious out there or smart comments if they offer nothing of value. My grandparents taught me that at a very young age. Personally I find it to be discourteous and disrespectful. It’s compared to someone walking up to you and asking you for directions and you don’t have a clue so you just throw something out there and the person gets lost.

I am looking to buy something that I thought others may have more knowledge than I had, I want to be educated. So again I appreciate your response and I will respectfully disagree with you taking exception to my earlier response to a post I made looking for help.

I have two colored EHpro Kayfun Lite + clones, 1 black and the other gold. Now from what I've read on the process it is very similar to the method use to coat a black diamond or Scanpan CSX type non stick pan both of which are part of a stainless pan base. My scanpans have held up now for 5 years with no sign of wear as on normal Teflon type pans and still are non stick. It seems after a month or so of use the Kayfun's have held up as well.

I have a black EHPro kfl+ and am about to order more. I don't know how they got the black color there, but I chose a version where the color was only on the outside - the threads and interior are the bare metal. If the black isn't anywhere that will interact with my juice or my mouth, I'm not concerned.

It is. The drip tip is a Splash XL I picked up from Mad Vapes, but they don't seem to have them any more. Volcano sells solid colors in the same shape, and I'm probably going to order a few - the long tip keeps the vape cooler and seems to concentrate flavor for me, so I'm a big fan.

I have a couple that I use when going low ohm duel coil because of the heat. I'll have to check out Volcano.

Thanks joecil, now that I how they may coat it I can do a little light reading.

So after a month did you or do you notice a taste difference. The machining oil is always tasty if you don't get it all how about the coating?

I've not noticed a taste difference in either but then I always run my atty's through the dishwasher and then dawn and water before using them, especially from China or for that matter even the USA.

Now mine the color is only on the out side and not on the treads or interior of the atty/driper. If so I wouldn't use it at all since I really don't know what chemicals might be involved in the process of coloring the atty.
