Question about Black vs Silver Ego's

I'm planning on buying a 1000mah ego usb passthrough. I have another 510 kit (Volcano Magma) and a 5 volt mod but want a 3.7 pass through and 1000mah battery so this seems like an inexpensive option. My question is I can't decide between getting a black or silver ego. I think the silver might look nicer, but I've heard the black has a good, kind of rubbery feel to it. I'm thinking the black might be better for that reason. It looks like all the ego's are silver and the colored rubber is just added to it. I don't know if its like a sticker or if they use some sort of glue. So I'm thinking if I get the black, and wondering if that rubber might come off if I want to turn it into a silver ego.

Anyone have any experience doing this or opinions on which is better, a black vs. silver ego?

I started on the eGo, black. It is true that the black is a kind of rubbery feeling coating. I'm not sure how they attach it to the steel, paint or sticker. I do know that if you let it sit in isopropyl alcohol long enough some, but not all, of the black comes off. I found this out when I accidentally left an atomizer soaking over night.

You can easily remove the black from the atomizers this way, but I wouldn't think soaking the battery in anything is a good idea.

As for which is better, it's a personal choice. Pick your favorite and plan on sticking with it

I really like the feel of the black. I glad I got this one instead of the silver.

Get the silver. The black eventually comes off. It's coming off in spots on my batteries, but it completely came off my attys after soaking them in alcohol to clean them.

The black is good and yeah, there's a rubbery feel to it. Although, like the person above me had mentioned. A little of the coating has come off on only one of the two that came with my kit. But, that only came about because of the abuse that it underwent like me dropping it a few times for example.

i'd go with black for the looks, if the black wears off you can always pick up some plastidip and respray it to just make sure to tape off anything important... it won't be 3.7 though it'll be 3.3 or 3.4

My 2nd PV was an eGo passthrough, it was definitely a game changer for me. Being able to vape while its charging is pure awesomeness. I had a total of 3 eGo's and in the couple months I used them (2 black and 1 blue passthrough) I never had any problem with the finish. I liked the rubbery feel to the finish, but looking shiney is nice as well. Its really gonna boil down to what you want. And hey, if you REALLY like the one you get just order the other one later on. No battery lasts forever and having a backup is always a good idea! Good luck!

I quite like the grip of the colored egos. The stainless egos will also be very cool. I can't offer my advise one way or the other because I really like the ego and I'm indifferent. If I had to choose one or the other I'd go with black. just because I like black, and I think that its more subtle.

I started with black but decided to get a silver one just cause it's purdy. Battery and cone weren't that much since the rest of the kit works with both.

Most people seem to think the black is the way to go and now I agree after looking at them closer and thinking about it for a little while. It's funny because earlier I thought silver looked sharp and would be different because everything else I have is black but I've changed my mind. Black is sleek. I think the rubbery feel is more important to me vs. the chance that the black might come off. I usually treat my stuff pretty well and try not to drop things too often (knock on wood). I was thinking that maybe the rubber around the ego was maybe form fitted on there and maybe you could just slice it down the middle and take it right off...it sounds like that is not the case which is cool. I just ordered the black one now, it will be a nice addition to my collection. I found it for an incredible price from mikeusa.com, $17.99 for the 1000 mAh passthrough plus $2.99 shipping. They we're out of the matching black cone so I grabbed that from another site for $4 and picked up some extra attys to have on hand.
