Just curious, what's the difference if it's black blue or green, isn't it still a Russian (v1 or V2)? Are we just comparing performance based on the color?

I think center pin is the only difference in the Russians some people have problems with v2 pin leaking out the 510 but I have one and so far so good

Hi, thanks for those appreciative words buddy!

1. The 'spring loaded' POS is not an upgrade ~ it actually is a Pita. Stick with your 'screw'.

2. I'd believe your mod's 510 pin (in the top cap) is the culprit. I have been using the Russians (including this Black R91) for a while now - it's bottom screw has never loosened up by itself. You could try one thing tho ~ place a small O-ring in that screw before tightening it. That helps with many other atty's 510.

3. No, you cannot remove the base of the K'funs (including the Russians) while it is full. These RBAs work with both pressure and vacuum working in tandem, like you have already experienced. If ever you need to tinkle with your build midway, syringe out the juice from the fill-hole and then disassemble the tank.

Hope that helped.

Hi qorax,
I have multiple authentic KFL+ and it is amazing. I never had any issue with them. I ordered an authentic Black Russian 91%. I have two annoying issues :
1. It whistles !! Unless I remove the air hole screw. I cleaned it and wash it couple of times. Once I put the air hole screw, it start whisling. Never had any whisle with the KFL +.
2. The 501 center post was loose. I put a second o ring as you suggested. It is now fixed. But it will never make contact with my provari with beauty ring. And if I adjusted the screw , it will give inaccurate ohm reading !! Is the 501 screw is not the right size. I noticed that the 501 connector in the russian is shorter than the KFL+ !!
Appreciate your feedback.

Hi M,

1. I use my Russians with their AFCs in 'fully open' position (not screw removed, but in max open) ~ and tho in such openness obviously you can 'hear' the air gushing in but I have never found it 'whistle'. However, whistling with attys usually occur when the air channel is partially obstructed with foreign particles. And more often than not it is due to e-liquid in them. Could you wash the base up thoroughly and then use a 'hair dryer' over the airflow channel and see if the whistling persist.

2. Yes, the Black R91's 510 screw sometimes could be a bit Pita b'coz it is tad smaller in length than their previous versions. So, unlike the media blasted Russians where their bottom screw slightly protrudes in fully tightened position - the B/R91's screw actually is well inside the walls of the 520 connector. And that's a big headache when using it over non-adjustable 510 mods like our Provari. As, if you loosen the screw too much - it will make irregular positive contact with the atty - thus inconsistent reading/firing. For the Provari our best bet is to replace this screw (B/R91's) with a longer one. They are available as spares with many vendors.

It's a shame the package doesn't come with a longer screw in it's spares bag :(
