lol....you are 50% of the way there. ;)

Hey, gdeal. I thought I was doing this just for fun, and 'cause I had the materials lying around. But now I suspect it was intuition. As I think about it; I realize that I solved a puzzle that I didn't consciously know I was working on. I think I'm pretty much "there".

My biggest issue with the stone is that it simply doesn't wick as well as 500 ss. My biggest problem with steel is the flavor. Turns out that a 9/64" stone wick with 2 layers of mesh around it does the trick. I can hold the button down with my device vertical @ .7Ω for 25 seconds and see nothing but plumes on a fresh build. I can chain vape without tilting. As to the flavor: it turns out that an inch-and-a-half square of mesh imparts virtually no flavor compared to 10.5 square inches of the stuff. The stone has a flavor too (very subtle); it is like talc, very basic, the steel acidic. They neutralize each other. They are both still there (very subtle) but they balance.

All too often, it seems, the solution is not the romantic one; rather the compromise. (Ask my wife.) You guys are doing some VERY COOL S__T over there; my hat is off to you!

Very well said.

I was really only joking about the 50%. You do what ever works for you right? Its all about different combinations and tradeoffs. btw I still use mesh etc..

I agree with you on ceramic, it does not have the capillary rise capability of SS mesh, but it saturates faster.

Good to hear that this combination works well.

Update, ~12hrs in: I'm tasting stone, if anything. No steel. I think I read in the "Next Big Thing" thread that the stone flavor goes away (I guess when I've ingested it all . . . JK). I'll give it a couple tanks.

Thanks for the "blessing", gdeal. Although I think, "whatever works for you" is what one says to the guy on the three wheeled bike with the tassles and the whirlygig for a hat. Are you doing the DEHW or the EHW? Does that eliminate break-in completely?

lol....three wheeled bike....

Seriously. What ever floats your boat. (no pun). Mix and match, go to town and if it works post-it. I have posted some crazy setups that I just did to see if it could be done..(more like "one and done"). Check this one out..

I do the EHW, still need to pull together a DEHW unit, Yes. It eliminates the coil break-in period completely. It is THE best way to set up ceramic period.

I reallly dont have any problems with EHW. Learning curve was three maybe four test wick wraps? Using the open flame (I use a micro-torch) is very easy if you take your time and are very careful. You can burn your fingers so its something that you need to play with to get the hang of it.

The electric version with a jig should be easier (safer) and because of the screw, you can get perfect wraps with out even really trying.

if you resemble, then you might look something like this

I'll see your hollow wick... And raise you a hollow wick for my micro-gen...
