If your thinking about getting the blu, read this first. As you can tell, I'm not a real long time member here. Like most of you, found this site and did a lot of research, a lot. I thought I had narrowed it down to what I liked and the blu advertisement got me. Thought, what the hell, I'm only out 60 bucks and I'll try it. From day one, had problems. Read and did some of the modifications and helped some, but still, PITA to have to constantly put the liquid in. You also had to be careful how you carry the pack, unless your carts are covered, if the PCC is not upright, then the liquid will leak out and a lot of work to clean. Then the PCC died, two batteries and one atomizer. Did get them replaced from blu, but had to fill out the sheet, remail it. Went ahead and got some extra parts. So, I'm in this for roughly right under 100 bucks. As time went on, other things began to fail, but still kept the faith. Started looking into using carto's, like the 306. Started looking at Volcano parts and stuff, then got to realize, I'm about to waste a lot of cash on something I'm not exactly sure will hold up. Along with the constant battery charging and short life, screw it. Researched that size does matter for my needs....longer battery life and more liquid, so I went with the Ego. A lot of you will say, it's too big. No it's not, it fits in the palm of your hand. Unless you just absolutely have to have a "cig" hanging from your mouth, it doesn't matter. I got the ego, with two batteries and two atomizers for about 65 shipped to the house. Comes with 5 carts that you can refill because the liquid that comes with it really sucks. All my problems went away....battery life is about a whole day, refilling has come down to once maybe twice a day. It's bigger and you can easily put it in your coat pocket or shirt pocket. I'm not a troll or a salesman of any type, just your average government office drone. If your new to ecigs, this is what you'll want to get. I wish somebody would have sat me down and explained it all to me. If I can help a brethren out and save some money and make them totally happy, that's what these forums are all about. Trust me, this advice will save you some serious coin. The ego needs no mods and the throat hit and vapor is out of this world. Also, get away from automatic batteries, they just don't work that well, go manual, as I did with the ego. :)

Good post. Unfortunately, Blu has awesome advertising. They are going to be around for a while if you ask me. People looking for help quitting analogs will probably come upon their site and read all the promises and testimonials, and then think just like you did,"why not". Lesson learned, and someone will probably find your post and reconsider their purchase. Good luck with your ego, I hear great things about them, and they seem to be the way to go these days.

Battery life for all auto batteries of this type suck. Not just the Blu. In my honest opinion, Blu is advertised mainly for either light smokers (half PaD smokers) or the social smoker. But what usually happens is that the person looking to convert is one who does not realize how electronics work (i.e. smaller battery=more times to recharge), or the mid to heavy smoker. The design of the Blu is not geared for the mid to heavy smoker or the experienced vaper.

And on saving serious coin, the Blu setup is $59.95. That is for 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, a PCC, all charging cables needed, and 25 (1 carton) of their cartridges in 5 flavors that they offer. Most PV kits only come with 5 pre-filled/blank carts. And since the Blu's cartons are $25 ($1 per cartridge), $20 of the price is for cartridges.

Myself, I wanted more of a battery life. That's why I went to the eGo. I got my eGo from Liberty Flights, for like $51.00 (that was with the 20% discount) then shipping charges. I knew from trolling here on the forums that the pre-filled carts that come with the setup sucks. So I also bought some juice to try (3-5ml bottles) and paid an extra $14.00. But hey, I'm happy with both kits. Especially the eGo. But the Blu is what got me off analogs.

Moral of the message - If you smoke more than a half-pack a day, then you need to find something else other than Blu.

Just my 2 cents. I have been running Blu since May. From 2 packs a day to e-only. It is an amazing device if you are patient and follow the rules. Also, 1 full year of replacement helps immensely. I'm not saying it will work for everyone, but as for this 2 pad smoker, it has. I started smoking, much like alot of others at around the age of 13. I am now 44, retired USAF and working in the IT world. I can't smell like cigarettes and have happy customers. Some folks just don't like that smell. Besides, I can vape at my desk if I am in the office and it doesn't hurt any of the equipment I work around. Other than smelling like cookies in my work area, nobody would ever know, if I was hiding it.

In regards to battery life and vapor production, you are absolutely right. An eGo, 510, etc.. blows blu out of the water, but there are a few other considerations you may wish to bear in mind: While blu has less vapor, and does not last as long, it really brings the nicotine hit, is unobtrusive, and is on the better end of the flavor spectrum. Many people use a variety of nonstandard practices with their blu, and it shows in the performance they see. For example, knocking the foil off gives you a better hit, but only allows the atty to wick liquid from it's tip, and the cart stops wicking and you complain about that. Or the battery starts flashing at you after like 5 minutes.. well unlike other ecigs blu has a safety feature that prevents you from hitting it like a crack head. Next time it flshes at you, try putting the thing down for a minute or 10, and viola! the battery isn't dead yet. Blu is designed the way it is for specific reasons. It looks and feels like smoking (not possible with a clunky although capable manual battery), is self contained like a pack of cigarettes, and personally, does a better job of keeping me off analogs than my 510, 808, or hello 016. Just my opinion, mind you, but for some flavor or similarity to a cigarette is more important than copious amounts of vapor. Now if only their shipping wasn't slower than healthcare reform..

I had to turn in my blu for an ego...while i really liked my bku (except for a dead battery after a week and a half), i enjoyed its compact size.

Once I went ego, its a different experiance...battery last a hell of a lot longer than blu (since its soooo much bigger).

I had to do the blue foam mod on the blu and it seemed to make a difference. But ego def has more vapor production...

I feel you cannot have a blu for your only PV. An ego was a good choice.

I use my blu again now that I have an established vaping arsenal. And because they now offer 306 cartos. I have my main PV's but like the blu for when I go out. I just happened to never have a problem with my blu, but I clean all my stuff constantly and am super careful.

I do drop everything all the time, but no problems.

Well, it's been over a month now with the Ego and it's still the freakin' bomb. Still on the original atty and with this thing filled with Halo Mystic Ice.......man oh man, it's all good. Still got my blu's, and still use them actually. Especially when I'm on the run and have to be around a lot of people, like at church. Still happy with the ego.

I found Blu on a daily deals site for around $29 for the kit. If it wasn't for that, I probably would never have thought about vaping. My son had used e-cigs while he was in Iraq, and I got a look at it while visiting him in TX. I'm not sure what brand he was using, but he liked it.

Anyway, a few days after my Blu arrived I found this forum - thank goodness! I now have a Riva, but still use my Blu when I'm around people that might get "spooked" by the looks of other e-cigs. It's a lot more "friendly" looking, and have actually had a few co-workers ask about it.

I haven't had any problems with the quality of my Blu, all the parts work just fine. I did realize right off that the pre-filled carts were nasty - the taste stuck in my mouth even overnight! Before I found out it wasn't a good idea, I started dripping some BWB juice, which was so much better! Now I'm looking around to find carto's and other bits so I can have more tasty options.

So even though my Riva works much better, I'm going to hang on to my Blu for times when I need to "fit in" with the smokers.
