I've been lurking here for a whiles since I've heard of the e-cig and I'm fascinated by it. I was initially introduced to e-cigs by ads from Blu. Now I know that Blu isn't really a favored brand here for various reasons, but I would like to know what components Blu cigs are comprised of.

It looks like they are DSE8084 mini's or something similar. One of the biggest attractants that I see is the PCC that Blu's come with. Being able to take a pack with you around and not have to be tethered to an outlet is a huge plus.

As a mental health therapist and non-smoker I'm very intrigued by the benifits of e-cigs and what it could do to help people stop smoking.

I'd like to try and assemble a better quality package of ecigs than what Blu provides, but with some of the factors that I think Blu works well with. An e-cig package that can produce good vapor, good thoat hit, easy to refil, smallish (close to an analog) size, and a PCC that has similar size to a regular pack of cigs.

Can anyone give me specific models that would be able to provide those qualities?

The Joye 510 manual (aka Dura C, Titan, Yeti) fits your description. The PCC for the 510 is a little longer than a pack of 100's, about 1/2 inch less wide and a tad less deep. Close to analog, but more important, actually produces good vapor, throat hit and easy to use.

For a 6 month warranty (read it of course) get either the Dura C or Joye 510 here:

Janty - Janty Dura - dietSMOKES.com

JANTY DURA SETS JANTY DURA-C SET

Or do a one stop shop - a 510 kit, PCC, passthrough juice here:

Widows Bead Work - E-cig

There are of course other vendors... do a search or go to the suppliers forum and check out any packages there.

I agree with Kent. The Blu is infamous for poor quality and frustration. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Stick with manaul PV's and stay clear of the auto PV's.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance and reliabilty.

And the vast majority of us long time smokers have finally been able to quit completely due to this device when all the other "so-called" aids did not and just plain don't work.

I am curious to see if anyone answers his direct questions about the Blu components myself (instead of suggesting other options) because I own other units (love my 510s) but also have a Blu on the way, and want to know where to get parts that are better and/or cheaper than from Blu.

If I'm not mistaken, they are L88b's. When I 1st found out about e-cigs, it too was because of Blu, but they weren't shipping at the time. An alternative to the Blu was the Luci that claimed to be almost 100% compatible. The Luci is an L88b.

Most of us who are experienced just hate to see people throw money down the drain and be frustrated. So we are inclined to not support their incorrect assumptions that the Blu is a good product. When you have tried more than one or two devices, you will understand why we recommend certain PV's and not others. If someone asked me where they could buy a Yugo car, I wouldn't help them either.

When one wasn't suckered in by Blu, then the only response can be 'suggesting other options'. :) I was answering this part:

"An e-cig package that can produce good vapor, good thoat hit, easy to refil, smallish (close to an analog) size, and a PCC that has similar size to a regular pack of cigs. "

When your Blu comes in, you can answer that part.

Generic Blu is the JSB L88. It is not compatible with any other e-cig that I know of.

It has a big sister and bigger brother (JSB 108 & 118) that are also not compatible. All are available in the plastic e-pack.

The Joye 510 like the others said is probably your best bet. It is even compatible with its little brother the 306 mini cig.

No doubt that the L88 is a poorer performer to the 901, 510, 401 etc.. but sometimes we want a different backup in a more convenient package. Blu certainly fits that bill.

Quitting smoking is not always just about the addiction to nicotine, but also the oral fixation, the mechanics of holding the cig in your fingers, bringing them up to your mouth, and having something to do with your hands.

A 510 is bigger, heavier, and does not carry like a pack of cigarettes. It seems the OP is looking for the closest SUBSTITUTE to recommend to his patients who want to quit. Much of the addiction is psychological, and a closer fascimile to what the smoker is used to may bring the best results.

But yes, from owning an L88b, 510, and Jantystick I can say easily that the L88 will give less vapor, less flavor.

I know that this is off topic but I own a Screwdriver, Prodigy 901 PT, M401 PT, RN4081 PT, RN4081, and a M401 (The RN4081 and M401 in different battery colors, of course, and all working).

Now, it seems all I read about is the 510! Why are you torturing me and my charge card??? I know I am going to break and buy a 510! Are you all happy??? :p

In that case I still recommend the 510 with the PCC (it is close enought to regular ciggys IMHO). This is only slightly different because the case is the size of Virginia Slims in the box, and the manual button on the battery.

The only other e-cig that that is closer in size would be the JSB 108 with the plastic PCC. Not too many suppliers carry this model yet, I know of one; ModernVapor.com (not affiliated) The Sidesho.
