In case you haven't figured it out yet, cardsfan300, this forum is so anti big tobacco all many will do is put it down before learning about it. I've been saying for a while I think big tobacco will eventually come up with something truly innovative. In actuality I think they are trying to compete with Vuse. More on that in a minute. I think they also see the writing on the wall that cigalikes just don't cut it once people try better products.
I got curious and looked into it.
First thing I found out is not only are they introducing the Blu Plus+ (stupid naming since that actually reads as blue plus plus) but they have a "social" premium line I hadn't heard about. The premium line has two types, just premium and premium 100, both of which have been available online for a while. The 100 is bigger battery and carto as well as it appears to give better vapor (I can't be sure since I haven't tried it and don't want to pay the $90 to try it). The social feature both have is odd. Apparently you can turn on the social feature and it starts attempting wireless communication. If you get within 50 feet of someone else with a premium kit (and the social feature on) your battery pack will begin vibrating and the light flashing. Why? I don't know.
The plus seems to be the same size as the 100 or slightly bigger. They haven't been clear what makes it "better" but have given hints. Strange marketing tactic to me but I guess non-vapors and people using cigalikes don't have the "technical" knowledge we have on this board.
The so called tank seems to be a cartomizer that isn't completely packed with filler. This is one of the unclear parts. I would like to know how they seal the liquid so it won't leak and still wick it to the coil. I'd also like to know more about that coil which appears to be a vertical.
I got a freebie of Vuse and though the taste is horrible, it has the best draw and throat hit than anything that size. The board in the carto does seem to accomplish something. Blu seems to have done something to compete with that but , again, the marketing hype isn't clear. They did say the revised electronics improve battery life and seemed to hint it also does something to give better draw. But the vuse can be purchased and tried for $10. Blu's model would indicated you are going to have to shell out a lot more than that just to try it.
It isn't clear to me if the social feature is on the plus but when I saw how that worked I noticed the social feature button appears absent on the plus.
Overall, though there seems to be some improvements to the product I just have no interest in spending that much money to test a product for which the hinted at improvements aren't clear to me. Hell, I probably wouldn't pay to try it even if I did get a full picture of what makes it different.
But if you are a happy cigalike user it does sound like it might be a better product.
It was hard to find but this is the page
blu PLUS+ | Simple Satisfaction. Now, #ThatsAPLUS!
The most interesting thing about the plus is when you scroll down that page some of the graphics move and change but that has nothing to do with the product itself, just the web design.
