Dangerous?, Poison? Toxic?
Blue foam aquarium filter.
What is its composition?
Look at this:
PPI filter foam - DAFA A/S | seals | absorbs | protects

If it contains polyurethane, can be dangerous.
The polyurethane if burning or combustion, it produces cyanide.

Peligrosa?, Venenosa? Tóxica?
Espuma azul para filtros de acuarios. ¿Cual es su composicion?
Mirar esta :
PPI filter foam - DAFA A/S | seals | absorbs | protects

Si contiene poliuretano, puede ser peligrosa.
El poliuretano si quema o combustiona, produce cianuro.

The answer you are looking for is YES! The blue foam is toxic but only if it catches fire, it produces toxic fumes. Almost everything we can use as a plug or filler is toxic if it catches fire and you breathe the fumes. Your only option to be totally safe is to drip. I will take the risk of it not catching fire. I used the blue foam and had no problems of melting. Just make sure you insert the cart correctly and cut the blue foam were it doesnt touch the atty itself.

I believe it has to get to something like 500F degrees in order to actually burn though and PVs don't get that hot. But I have read that it can start to degrade at 240F degrees, so I'm a little wary of polyurethane.

I do not refer only to the combustion for overcoming of the temperature of ignition.
The degradation of the polyurethane begins very much earlier.

From 240 º F ? (I found papers from 150-200 º C - aprox 300-470º F) is possible the diisocyanates formation, depending on the exact composition of the foam.

I would assume it is toxic if:

A: You can taste it
B: It has any deterioration

I use a nicostick I made and use the ZFM. I used blue foam and it worked great. I tried poly foam and it worked better. After talking with the president of American Excelsior, I switched to the ZFM. I am glad I did, it works the best and has the best flavor. Its a pain to get it perfect size but after you do, its good for life. The coversation I had with AE encouraged me to stay away from any toxic material whether it burns or not. Just my 2 cents. I know polyester isnt toxic but its a pain to work with for heavy vapers.

Which means?? What would one notice if there was any degradation of the foam? Should i put some in the over at 300 degrees and see what happends?

What is ZFM?

Its a mod made by scotty, works great, u just need a razor blade. If you have a 510 u will have all the other supplies needed. Try it! I was also reading a post of yours earlier about a mod with a flush button. You should try a nicostick. You can make your own. If ur not able to solder, I will make you one and ship it to you. If you like it you can send me $9 (cost of parts). If you dont like it, just send it back. I think everyone should have 1! Check the link for ZFM! http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/53487-zfm-zero-filler-mod.html

I understand that the coil under the bridge - which BTW never comes in contact with the foam - is what vaporizes the juice. Is this correct?

TC

Yes. But if you vape a lot the heat will reach the foam. If you hold the button for 2 seconds you shouldnt have a problem. I vape heavy and have even melted the cart (it was inserted wrong though). ZFM is the way to go.

WOW you just dont know when to stop eclypse. You dont care if it is harmful or not you just want to be known as "the best" when it comes to ANY invention. You would never dare give an unbiased opinion on something you came up with and if you didnt come up with it you always have something negative to say or "you came up with it already and you were to busy to post". For a change why dont you take other peoples comments into consideration and not ALWAYS have such an offensive take on everything. May i remind you, this is a friendly forum, its not a popularity contest and theres no first place prize. Man every time i click on a new thread you have your negative 2 cents in it. Does anyone know if there is a way to block people????
