You basically want to experiment with the size of the piece of blue foam to find what works best.

You have to make it a little wider than the cartridge, or it will probably leak and/or easily flood your atomizer.
On the other hand, if you cut it too wide, it will not wick as well when you stuff it in.

Usually you would want to cut it anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 wider than the cartridge.

A lot of people will also recommend to cut it shorter and make a "plug" out of it, but that is a little more involved.
I'm sure there are threads in the cart mods subforum about it though, if you become interested.
:)

Wish I knew what u guys were talking about. Whats blue foam? I'm an E-cig newbie. And would love to learn new stuff
Cartridges (not cartomizers) are filled with a polyfill wicking material that can be reused/replaced.
It allows the juice to flow from the cartridge, down the bridge on the atomizer, and to the atomizer coil.

If you take drags faster than the wick material can wick, you will eventually get to taste dry burnt atomizer flavor.
If that is the case, you might want to look into using different material to replace the polyfill.

Blue foam is one of those, and you can read about many other tricks in the following subforum...

After a few hours, I think it helps some. I haven't had to refill much at all, and the hits seem to be a lot more consistently the same flavor and vapor amount. Other than the initial filling, it hasn't been too messy. I think I'll try cutting several pieces at the same time of different sizes and see how it works out. Thanks for the confirmation!

I know this is closer to a cart mod topic, but I feel more comfortable here since i've only been seriously vaping for a little over a week...to my fellow newbies that are just getting into this too, if you're using a 510 ego with carts and getting tired of the constant refilling, you have absolutely got to do this. Super easy and way better than that &@!$ing polyfill junk. I'm in new vaper heaven right now!

Another thing that can determine the best size (length and width) of the blue plug is the thickness of the liquid used. In my experience, thicker (higher VG) liquids can handle a smaller, less tight plug without leaking whereas a thinner (high PG) may need a bit larger/longer plug to avoid a leak. Good luck.

Just keep in mind that the first time that you fill a new piece of foam, it will soak up the juice very slowly. That is normal, just be patient. Every time after the first fill it will soak up much faster. When I was playing around with the foam, I would just cut it slightly larger in length and width than the cart and that size seemed to work fine. It is not miraculous, but it certainly appears to work substantially better than the stock fill that most carts come with.

The precut pieces for 510 at strictlyejuice.com are cut about as wide as the juice cup, maybe a bit wider at the top, and the bottom end is tapered a bit to let more juice fit and help it wick to the top.

For small round carts, I cut a tiny bit wider than the juice cup and almost as long and taper the inner end a bit. Some cut them shorter but I lean toward keeping them in place better.
