hi all,
Purchased blue foam from petsmart yesterday. size "U" were out of stock and got "V" size instead. This foam works way better than the carts. Any difference in material in these two? Does the difference in size matters? I am under impression that the "U" size width fits well into the 510 carts. For "V" size I have to fold it to push into the cart. Still I am not able to fill the cart more than 10-12 drops. I experienced burnt taste after 5 or 6 strong puffs. If I add drops then the vaping is great again. Any advice?

I have not experimented with "V" vs "U" but I did run into issues when I started using mega attys.
The standard size 510 cart was easy to cut a piece to fit, not too loose, not too tight and vape on.
The larger cart openings I found changed everything.

The answer I found was to pay close attention to how fast the foam absorbs the juice filling the cart.
This will be somewhat of an indication of how it will perform, and the viscosity of your
particular juice blend will matter.

It wicks out as fast or slow as it goes in..., if it leaks cut a bigger piece, if you get
dry hits shave a little off. I also taper the foam so it's bigger on the top of the cart, and
able to hold more juice toward the bottom since the foam isn't crowding it out.

If you have a 510 or something with smaller carts than a 510, you can get some precut pieces of blue foam here cheap:
Blue Foam Cartridge Filler - $0.75 : StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop!

I got them at first because my Petsmart was out of Rite-size U, and I cut down the 510 size to my cart's size.

Rite-Size U may have a different size holes in the foam so it might wick differently. Also, many people cut the foam tapered so it fits well at the top of the cart but is narrower at the bottom of the cart - that way more juice fits in the cart though you also have the slightly increased risk of the cart dumping the juice out.

Sounds to me like either your foam has holes that don't work as well OR you have it stuffed too tightly (which would also prevent wicking by closing off the holes in the foam). Try to have just enough so it will hold itself it.

Then - on a full fill, you remove the foam, 1/2 fill the cart, replace the foam and push it into the juice then reposition the foam where it should be at or near the top of the cart. Then top off if needed with 2-3 drops. After that, I just top off occasionally, and when it seems like it really needs it I do another full fill.

If you are accidentally using the totally empty cart that may have come attached to your atty, that is just a dummy cart. Real carts have a double cup with airspace between them to let the vapor out. So the outer surface is the mouthpiece, and the inner cup holds the stuffing and juice. The inner cup does not have a hole in the bottom.
