Boba's tasting weird?

I just got 100mL of boba's in the mail and it doesn't taste like usual. It has sort of a chemically smell and taste that I never experienced with my 30mL orders. What's the deal? Larger size needs steeping? I was always under the impression that Boba's doesn't need to steep and I never steeped it before.

email ben and ask him... i remember he once had to recall an entire batch... this was just after he returned from korea...

of course, it could just be you...
