I've tried Boge 510 cartos on my Riva yesterday. Disappointed. The flavor and vapor are less compared to my cartridge when I use BackwoodsBrew liquid. I have to really drag quite long to get decent flavor and vapor. But the carto can hold good amount of liquid compared to cartridge. Used condom method as well as opening the soft cap and pouring 10-15 drops. I am not sure if it has anything to do with liquid. I tried sample liquid (Turkish tobacco) came along with the 5 pack cartos from LF. I felt flavor and vapor pretty good with this. Anyone has similar experience? I heard Boge LR cartos are good with Riva and similar models.

I've had the same experience shanew. Consensus around the forum seems to be that the standard resistance Boge cartos need a 5 volt mod for best vaping experience. There are lower resistance cartos, Boge and otherwise, 2.5 ohm and 2.0 ohm. Some complain that the 2.0 ohm cartos can start tasting burned quickly if you do not keep them wet enough. If you are using them on a 3.2 volt batt like a 510 or eGo, the 2.0 ohm will probably work fine. But at 3.7 v or above, such as on a mod, you might find the 2.5 ohm cartos better. Ikenvape, Litecig, VaporJunction (out of stock at the moment, I think), and MadVapes are at least four suppliers who carry lower resistance cartos.

Boge 510 cartos have quite a bit of filler material and can take a long time to properly soak in the liquid.

I would suggest filling from the mouth end and letting the carto sit for a few hours while standing on the battery end in a condom. I have always had much better results with the Boge cartos after they have sat for a while. I normally fill or top off cartos before bed and let them sit overnight.

For a new, empty carto, I drip 30 drops in to the mouth end. I do 5 at a time and let it soak in before doing the next 5. The last 2 or 3 drops may seem like they are not going to go in but they will. I have never had a new Boge carto take less than 30 drops. Normally, I get 32 to 35 drops in but I let the first 30 sit for a while.

If you fill and use right away, you will probably get bad flavor. Give it a while and try again.

Good luck

I 2nd everything Typ0 had to say. Make sure you're initially filling with at least 30 drops. If your carto is truly LR, you should be getting plumes.

Thanks for your advice. I just filled a carto with 30 drops and keep it upside down (on the battery end). How long I've to keep the carto after filling the liquid? I am asking for advice on the minimum time. Mine is definitely not an LR carto. I am just dropping from the mouth end of the carto onto the walls by removing the soft cap. I am I doing it right?

Wouldn't that be right-side-up?

Yes, that's an acceptable way to fill it. You can also use the condom method - drip 20 or so drops into the longer rubber sleeve and push the liquid up through the carto, let soak in, then top off.

I just started using my Riva yesterday. I filled the Boge carts using the "condom" method. I had to add a bit more until I could see the liquid surface then stopped. I had huge amounts of vapor, in fact, being new I had to take very tiny puffs in order to inhale or I was swimming in vapes, coughing all the while,,lol. I tried 2 different juices one PG one VG, both produced alike.

I've tried condom method as well. But really had to take long draws to get decent flavor and TH. Where as I get good flavor and TH even with tiny draws when used carts. Now after keeping the carto for 2 hrs with battery side down. Same case..had to take long draws to get decent flavor and vapor. But I am delighted of the fact that I am not refilling them as I used to with carts. thinking to order few LR cartos.
Shining, btw could you tell me where did u buy the juice? What flavor? Did you try using carts?
I've one more question. After I kept the carto for 2 hrs, I've opened the soft cap to see that it is almost dry. I am assuming the liquid is completely absorbed. I am I right? But with 30 drops is it normal to see dry ?

I have had different experience filling cartos with the "condom" method. I bought my cartos from FreedomsmokeUSA so they are a bit different. The suggested method of filling is through the top of mouthpiece with a syringe. These cartos need to be pierced before the initial filling. Anyway I have been using the condom method and getting several hours of vaping. I filled one with a flavor that I ended up not liking so I decided to break the caro open to see what it looks like inside (since these cannot be washed). The polyfill inside only had a little on the very bottom end! The top 80% was bone dry! Maybe I should fill from BOTH ends on the initial fill? I know the polyfill can be stubborn absorbing when new and dry. (have seen this when I wash it from cartridges and then try filling when it is dry again)

If you're using the condom method on the first fill let it soak a few minutes after the fill then top them off with drips and you should be good to go with with a full cart.

Sounds like the op was using 3.0ohm Boge which work better at higher voltage. I use those at around 4.2v or higher. Try either the 2.5 or 2ohms and you should get better results.

Like I said I'm a newbie too but I watched alot of the videos showing how to do all this. The cartomizers easily filled, I used the condom method but did not push too quickly. I let it kind of suck into the carto slowly. When I didn't see the liquid pushing thru the top side I pulled it out and added more juice inside the cover (condom) and pressed it down in there again, slowly, when I saw the liquid break thru the top I waited a couple of minutes and pushed it a bit further until it stopped absorbing. This all took a matter of 5 minutes maybe. I have used mine all day and it's vaping like crazy all day. In fact I can only draw on it about 2-3 seconds max or it starts me coughing because of all the vapor. Do you hear it gurgle a bit? It should gurgle a little when you hit the button. Press the button before drawing on it, then let the button up just before you stop. Someone else advised me that way and it worked great.
If you took the cap off and it doesnt look wet , then you don't have enough juice in it. My understanding from watching all the videos is it should look "glossy" sorta like an oily sheen, but NOT pooled.
I bought several juices from Liberty-Flights. Hotel, which is a tobacco that is rather strong for me and tastes more like a cigar flavor. Cola which I do like, tastes like RC Cola and lingers after vaping it has a mile tobacco flavor as well. Kiwi which is very mild, not much taste but has a clean smooth draw with no irritation. Mandarin which I also like crisp and clean, cleanse the palate type of taste, light orange flavor, I could vape all day on this. Dr Peeper I also like and does take like a real DP. Chocolate I LOVE, it's a mild chocolate taste not too much not too sweet, like savoring hot chocolate, also one I can vape all day. So far that's all I've tried but have more coming.
I have only tried dripping with all the above flavors. I used the cartomizer for the Hotel tobacco as well as Cola.

Agreed. You really should use 2.0Ω-2.5Ω at standard voltages (1.5Ω is available, but should be done with 3.7V mods only). Otherwise, you're not going to get much of anything.

First make sure that your unit can take the LR cartos, and I believe that is classified as 1.7 at most. Not all batteries can
handle the LR cartos. Most all can handle 2.0 and up. I am not a very qualified techy, but I think this is correct.

I fill about 5 cartos at night and thru out the NEXT day, I rotate thru those and top off as needed. Yes they do much better with letting them sit so the juice wicks downward.
If you take the top off and it looks dry, add/top off with some juice.

Your carto can recover from too much juice (just blow a little out)
It probably can not recover from too little juice (burnt taste)

Good luck and happy vaping
