Hi all, thinking of trying a Boge Cartomizer as I hear good things about them.

A lot of people buy like a SmokTech DCT tank with them and put their cartos in there. Do I have to do that to get a good vape and punch the holes? Or is that just so it can hold 3-5ml of liquid in the tank and last longer? To try them I want to just buy the cartos first and screw them onto my ego batts with a drip tip and a cone.

Thanks

You can buy punched cartomizers or punch them yourself. I think people like the cartomizer/tank set-up because you don't have to constantly top off your cartomizer.

The tanks come in different lengths so you need to get the tank setup for the cartomizer you prefer. I've used DCC (dual coil cartomizers) but I really prefer the 1.7 cartomizer or the boge 2.0.

I am a big fan of the 2.0 Boge carto with tank system. The taste and vape from the Boge has been much better (in my experience) than a SmokeTech carto... the tank is up to you. I use pyrex tanks from Valley View Vapes that has been very nice. I used the plastic tanks when I started out just to save money. I have noticed a better taste out of the Boge and Pyrex combo. Punching your own holes will give you a larger hole in the carto which will help especially if you vape thick liquids. The tank is nice since you don't need to keep dripping. You should be able to use this system with your ego.

Many of us used cartos without a tank (before there were any tanks to put them in), and they look good and work well on an eGo with a cone over them. 2ohm Boge and 1.7ohm Smoktech cartos both work well on an eGo.

When you want to move up to using a tank, the Smoktech DCT is scraping the bottom of the barrel. There are plenty of tanks that are better to choose from.

I'm using a pyrex tank and Bogo carto setup from Valley View Vapes on my ego-c twist as my daily rig. Out of all the setups I've tried so far this one has consistently given me great results. Various clearomizers and vivi novas have more often than not have given me a burnt taste. The tank definitely doesn't look that great on the ego-c batteries as they are fairly large for a slim battery. Will probably look decent with a cone sleeve to cover the ego threading.

Thanks, how does it look without a tank and with a Cone on?

I never thought of using a cone on the replacement tank cartos but I do vape with them without a tank since I got some that wouldn't fit through the tank hole. They were hand punched and warped too much. I use a pyrex drip tip and they look quirky cute like a long specialized attomizer. I thought the liguid would leak but it didn't and I didn't want to waste the cartos. But the topping off does get old. A 45 ml tall carto holds about 20 drops depending on the juice thickness drop size. I read about using a toothpick to block the air hole and that works great for filling. Topping off is easy a few drops at a time just hold at a little angleso it doesn't go down the hole. Topping off there is more control once you figure out what you want out of the experience and easier than dripping Attomizers as far a forgiving too much especially

The Boges I get have a laser punched 2.5mm hole (most vendors place 1mm holes) and work well with thick liquids.

But I agree, Boge and tank gives a nice vape. I think cartos perform better with just the right amount of liquid, and when a tank is feeding your carto, you get a pretty constant liquid level, which definitely improved the experience for me.

    Triple V Polypro Tanks

hands down. Great price and great build! I have no problems with mine. Once you get used to them then you can move up into the special pryrex and other.....or stay with them.

First..to answer your initial question...you can use Boge cartomizers with a cone and they will look good. Just be sure you have the bigger bore cone. The original Joyetech eGo cones are kinda narrow and while your carto might fit okay..if there's paper on there, it might get scraped off. If you do decide to go with a carto tank (I like them) then you ought to get one pre-punched carto at least...single coil is best...so when you do punch your own you know the placement of the hole(s). If you use thick juice (highly colored with lots of VG in it) then you will want at least 2 holes punched. Three maybe. Once you know where the holes should go...then you can punch your own using a tool like this Carto Punch Tool and you'll find it's quite simple. There is a little bit of a learning curve how to punch so that you don't make the holes too big, or warp the carto tube...but it'll sort itself out quickly.

will I be missing out on anything apart from longevity of not having to refill doing this instead of putting a carto in a tank?
