My friend and I bought Ego Twists 650 MaH with Boge F16 tanks. We are getting a horrible burnt taste which we think is from the cartomizer inside the tank, regardless of the voltage or flavor we use a similar taste shows up. The burnt taste fluctuates but is always noticeable. Tried replacing the cartomizers with the same boge 1.6 ohm... nope, same taste. We also tried many different ways of filling the tank and cartomizers, including wetting the @!#$ out of the wick and waiting before use in case it was still dry. Now are trying boiling the cartomizers before use in case a factory lubricant gives off the taste (waiting for them to dry atm).

If anyone has any solutions to this problem we would really appreciate your insight.
Would a different cartomizer fit in the tank and solve the problem? If so Which?
Should we just get a different kind of tank? If so which?

I only use the F-16 cartomizers and tank and I am very pleased with them. I know exactly what you are saying about the nasty, burnt plastic taste from the first hit, the same thing happened to me. I think that it is caused by two factors; machining oil and the coil not being wet enough with initial firing. Once you get the burnt taste you need to throw the cartomizer in the trash, nothing I have found will remove the taste.
Here is what I do to avoid problems: 1) wash the cartomizer in vodka and blow it out into a paper towel to dry, 2) fill the carto with it off the battery either with a syringe or dripping from a bottle until it starts to weep out of the holes on the side, 3) Give the carto time to adsorb the e-liquid (I usually wait for about 15min), 4)If you flooded the carto you will need to blow it out a little into a paper towel, 5)Install tank, fill, and vape away.

I have had no problems when I follow these steps. Again, if you have burnt a carto you need to throw it away and start with a new carto.

Soooo no luck.
We rinsed the new cartomizers in vodka for well over an hour and let them dry out before we put juice in. For the juice we wet the wick through the top until it started leaking out the two small holes near the bottom, then put them into the tank and filled it allowing that to sit for about half an hour for it to absorb for sure. When we started vaping we immediately got the weird burnt taste again.... very disappointing.

Which leads to my next questions...
Can I put a different kind of Cartomizers in these tanks and have them fit snug? If so should I get higher ohm resistant coils? (these are only 1.6)
Or should I just scrap the whole tank and get a different kind? If so which would work well with an ego twist?

Bottom line we researched for over a week deciding on what to get, then waited another week for everything to show up only for this to happen. We would just like something that would work well so we can vaaaape! Experienced suggestions would be very appreciated :)

Did you use new cartos or did you try to recover the burnt ones? Once a carto is burnt I have not been able to remove the burnt taste no matter what I tried.

Smoktech cartos will work in these tanks, I think they take the XL cartos.

The resistance depends on the voltage that you are using. The 1.6-20 ohm cartos are best at 3.7 volts. If you are using higher voltage you will need higher resistance coils to keep from burning them up

So took a break from the whole vaporizer thing for about a week after the cleaning just didn't work at all and the exact same taste came through the new carto's. I sent canvape.com (vendor we used) an email to see if they could help me out, but we'll see. But I have a few more questions....

I want to pick up a different brand of 45mm Cartomizers that will fit the F16 tanks anyone know of a good quality one?

Also thinking of getting something else to fit on top of my Ego Twist, any ideas on what would be best for vapor, TH, and taste? Was thinking about picking up some Kanger MT3's, need to do some more research before I do...

They were fully saturated. We filled it from the top of carto and constantly added more juice every couple minutes until the juice started leaking out the two little holes on the side (it came out the bottom screw end before hand). We then let the carto sit inside a tank with juice for over 30 minutes to make sure it was fully saturated. Still no luck, the burnt taste was still there. These cartos were the ones we also soaked in vodka for well over and hour before use.

I have a few of these tanks (from VaporBeast) and have used both the Boge and SmokeTech XL cartos in them. In my experience that burnt taste only happens from scortched poly. After you soak the hell out of the carto, maybe try putting a couple of drops down the atty and starting off at a low voltage? I can't imagine anything else that it could be.
