I bought my first ecig from the most popular manufacturers AND IT BROKE WITHIN DAYS. Got a new pne from the company and this one also broke after a couple of days. The batteries, it turns out, are crap, and the cartridges do not last very long, contrary to the hype. ANyway I am so disgusted that I go looking for ecig review sites this morning. What struck me is that 1) they all have these unbelievable testimonies which look really fake and 2) my negative comments about this company were deleted from numerous websites. Almost everyone I know who has bought ecigs from this company has had them break. The technology just sucks. I am 100% positive that the ecig companies, ONE in particular, is running all these websites!! First of all, all the review sites have a similar framework for posting, complete with a place to enter your "website." Obviiously the same person is running all these sites for the leading company. To make it beleivable they allow a negative comment about GS to enter once in awhile, but you can tell that the comments extolling the virtues of the product are totally fake. WHat do you think??

You are absolutely right. There are many companies that are scams, and have some very clever ways of faking reviews to make you think their products are any good.

On the other hand, there are many other companies (many of which are small operations run by honest people who vape) that really do sell quality products, and are only interested in helping you be successful with vaping.

Lots of people get sucked in by one of the dishonest companies as their first intro to vaping. Don't give up. There are plenty of good ones out there.

Have a look around, and you'll start seeing them. ECF has a list of "Forum Suppliers," which are companies with consistently good customer reviews, who are known for their good service and quality products, and conform to ECF's guidelines for suppliers.

There are several dozen of them with their own subforums, listed at the bottom of the main page. They supply everything from e-cig kits, to mods, to juice, to DIY supplies.

Have a look at the resources here, including the New Members forum stickies, the ECF Library, and the E-cigarette Wiki. You shall find what you seek. :)

I think most of us can sympathize with your experience jonathan. I didn't order from one of the more commercially available ecig companies (blu, greensmoke, smokeeverywhere) but only because I stumbled upon the forum first, but I was almost committed to buying the blu (on the site, finger poised to click) before I began reading here.

The technology doesn't suck but those products do. If you look through the posts on here, there are many products out there. The ones that you see most recommended on this forum are probably PV's that will give the best chance of success. Everyone is different, so finding what works for you could be hard, but if you ask questions you will get plenty of people giving their advice to you.

I started with a PV that was good, but after a month of smoking I needed something different. However, the first PV, which I picked because of reviews and recommendations to others on this forum was a very good alternative to analogs.

I was cynical when I found this forum and I had the whole conspiracy suspicion because most people and posts were so happy-day-sunshine and rainbows positive. Despite that, I didn't want to waste so much money on analogs and thought at least maybe I could cut down if I used the PVs here. So I do agree that alot of those sites out there are probably owned by the same company, but this is a good place to find out if a company is legitimate, and as Mistress Nomad posted, the forum suppliers is a good place to start. We point you to those suppliers because of the good experiences that individuals have had. It is a good I idea to read through some of their forum threads if you are thinking of buying from them. If you want to find a good supplier without all the hassle, just post a question and you'll get good responses.

Well, even if the "testimonies" were legit on those "review" sites, it wouldn't matter. Those people have never tried anything else, so they wouldn't know if it is horrible or not. My personal guess is they simply delete all the bad ones...

The bigger point is this. Those review sites are nothing more than "affiliate" arrangement sites. Once you click a link, like Blu, Greensmoke, whatever, then they store your IP. If you buy that product - ever - the site gets paid. That is the one and only purpose of those sites...

I have had great luck with service with Totally Wicked, Liberty Flights, and Awesome Vapor. Liberty flights sells genuine quality e-cigs. Try the Ego or Riva, depending on your budget. Either way, you are in at under $60. Watch for their sales.

As far as juices, I have had great luck with Vapor Bomb, Tasty Vapor, FreedomSmokesUSA, Mrs. Ts Bakery, and have heard Backwoods Brew is awesome.

I have enjoyed the cartomizers from Awesome Vapor (ceramice E2 rev 4) If money is no object, these things are awesome, and using them are still way cheaper than analogs (about 30 to 50 cents per day if you use them 4 to 5 times) They are meant to be disposable, but can be refilled a few times. Lose the carts. Either drip (3 drops at a time) or use a cartomizer. You will not be sorry.

As far as juices, welcome to the world of discovery. Send me a pm and I can steer you in the right direction if you describe what flavors interest you. Expectation is huge with this.

Post the name so others can avoid same problems. Make a review on the e-cig reviews.

Not much of a need for that really, lol. They are all essentially the same. Those sites almost all "review" the expensive ecig brands. Why? They get a big affiliate payment. Some are like 20% of the purchase.... not bad for a mouse click...

Don't give up! I spent $113 on my first horrid kit and lucky for me they accept a refund (minus the return, restocking). I know how you feel cus the kit has so many good reviews about it, none was bad.

Now that you found this forum, take your time read reviews from real people. There's a lot of info on here and many good suppliers with quality products. Kits I found can be any where from $29 to $200, it is up to you what you want and how much you want to spend.
The company I purchased from sent me an extra charger after I emailed them that a charger with the kit didn't work, no question asked.

As you can see this is a very active place. Over 700 viewing right now and you can get your questions answered super fast.
Hang in there, don't give up.

Doc - Yup. Rule of thumb I follow is, if you see a "reviewer" who only seems to talk about one product, provides a link to a site that is branded, and/or it costs more than 80 bucks*, do more homework.

If you see a "free trial," run.

If it's in a mall, run.

If it's in a gas station, run.

You get the gist. ;)

It kind of sucks, since I am one of those people who likes to actually look at something before I buy it. But most of the good vendors are online, buried in a sea of bad online vendors as well.

*The exception to the "80 bucks" rule is for really huge kits (lots of carts, PCC, extras everywhere), or a mod - many of them cost over $100, in fact. But for a basic starter kit with 2 bats, 5-10 carts/cartomizers, and/or a couple atomizers, and a USB/wall charger, it should never be over $80, and should really be below $60.
