I have this silica rope here, that I bought from a particular vendor. Whenever I use it to make a wick, regardless of the juice I use to prime it, it tastes awful - very sweet and irritant, as if I snorted concentrated aspartame powder. I start coughing immediately and I can't stop for 5 minutes. I have to saturate the wick, vape it dry and dry burn it 2 or 3 times before the stupid flavor disappears.

I sometimes get that ultra-sweet flavor with brand-new cotton wicks, but it goes away after 2 or 3 puffs. However this silica seems saturated with whatever causes this.

Can you boil silica without destroying it? Seeing as it frays and breaks very easily, I thought I'd ask before doing it. I only have a short length of this particular diameter...

Thanks guys. Yeah I haven't even thought of torching it. It's not cotton, it won't burn eh :)

I'll try it next time I use that silica wick.

There is Old Saying that... You Can't Burn Something that has Already Been thru the Fire."

In a Silica Wick, there is Nothing to Burn Except Impurities. So go and Torch the Hell out of it.
