I reuse a lot of little plastic bottles since I DIY and when I have a persistent flavor I can't get rid of I will let lemon juice sit in it for a while and if that doesn't work then I rinse it out real good with vodka. Then rinse out again with water of course. If that doesn't work then I toss it. Plastic bottles are pretty cheap.

Do you dilute the lemon juice a bit with water or is it just straight lemon juice?

I rinse mine with very hot water then put some PGA in them and let em sit for a while, seems to pull out anything and everything, and transfer the PGA from one to another not to waste it, then rinse a 2nd time with extra hot water, clean as a whistle, I was thinking vinegar may work also with a real hot water rinse after, should get the bottles clean as well.

I'll second the vodka. The only thing it doesn't seem to work perfectly on is menthol... And, unlike lemon, it's not sticky. And you can re-use it. :)

Good thing I don't like menthol then. This would actually be the first time I purchased vodka for my own personal use. Too many bad experiences with it. Besides, tequila is more fun!
