There's also this one....
rBAAalOtjCqAWRZaAAC4phE0lgg556_l.jpg

It seems to go by 2 names.... the Firebox or S-CA1. I've used it for a few months (daily at one point) before I got into the 3D ones. It's only a 15watt unit with an 18500(flat or button), and wont fire below about 1.4.
I got 2 of them from s-body for around $110 with shipping (2 was the minimum purchase I could get).
Still got one that's never been used.... and the daily used one just got a fresh paint job.

The Vmod has been around for a while. From what I see, it uses a 14500 battery which is a small battery. I don't know if a rebuildable can be used on it or not.. if not, you'll be stuck buying attys or some kind of "head" for it.

If this were me...knowing what I know now. I'd save my money and go ahead and get a REO. I use a grand with a rm2.. I've tried other, more expensive, dual coil attys but prefer the rm2. It's easy to build and just works.

What you would need for a total package:
Reo
bf atty
kanthal wire (I get mine from tempco.. A1 28g)
batteries.. at least 3 ( 18650 )
a battery charger (I bought a xtar from ebay $20ish)
cotton for wick. you can get a big bag at cvs but I use koh gen doh from sephora

it sounds like a lot of money and it is.. but once you get all the above stuff.. you're set for a long time.. you would only need juice.

I've been vaping for a long time and have tried lots of stuff. I still use V2 provaris with kayfuns and I have a nice mech (atmizoo roller) but it's the REO I reach for 99.9% of the time now. For me it's easy, economical, and the exact vape that I want. As for it being mechanical... I used to be all about regulated but I've found that using my REO vs a provari.. I change batts about the same. Meaning the light starts flashing on the provari around the same time I'm reaching for another batt for the REO.

I will say this about the REO - I am not a fan, for cosmetic reasons ( I bought the VV Grand, which had its own issues, but that has nothing to do with the mechs)

However - they have an excellent reputation for a reason.
I dont think that you are going to get a device as durable for any less.
I am happy with my SunBox, but it cost more.
There is the old saying - buy right, you cry once.
Buy cheap, you cry many times.

PS
Battery life is going to be influenced by resistance, and no mech will give you the consistency of a VV device

I've heard of these things, I think I've even seen a pic or 3... Pretty cool stuff!
I'm not a DIY'er when it comes to "some assembly required" unfortunately... Heck, I can't seem to help my 4yr old put together a simple "Ninja Turtle" jigsaw puzzle without getting PO'd and becoming a poor example for him...:D
It sure does seem like a cool project for someone with the skill and patience!

I hear ya Uncle P. I bought a few of these kits and ordered the printed mod, still don't have it built. The body needs sanding internally so that the parts fit together smoothly and mine are still very tight, can't figure out where the rub is yet so haven't even gotten to the "buildy" party yet...lol. Have all the parts though...sigh.
