Mary Kay, My neighbor has a bounce house business. He has over 15 assorted bounce houses and slides. Here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area the winds have been crazy for the last several months. He called a client just the other day and told the father of the child who's birthday they were celebrating with a slide AND bounce house that he had to cancel due to high winds. The father lost his mind and was screaming and cursing at Scott. According to safety regulations those bounce houses and other inflated "toys" are not to be used in wind over 20mph. That day the winds were over 40mph!!! What's more is Scott stakes them down with a two foot stake and a 50lb bag of sand on each one of the stakes. This video according to Scott, the owner of the bounce house didn't even stake them down that day!!! It's amazing that the kids weren't hurt any more than they were!

My son worked for an inflatable company..the kind you see outside stores for advertizing. he once said he chased one of dancing baloons down the street when it blew away. It was sandbagged...but the owner of the business refused to have his asphalt messed up with with useless stakes..well it was his call and he had to pay for the baloon that got away and run over (thank goodness my son stopped chasing it when it went into traffic!)

I saw that on the news and was amazed. I've never heard of that happening before, but I'm sure it must have. I sort of feel sorry for the vendors who do take safety precautions-- this could hurt their business.

Yeah, and my friend said that a couple of days later the father called back and apologized for behaving so poorly. Scott was just surprised that the father was more concerned about the kids "having fun" and not their safety.
