Box mod advice

Hello, I'm new to the forum and all, so greetings
I've been vaping for a while now, about 3 years, and currently own a Vision Spinner 2. I've only been using pens and wanted to upgrade to a box mod. I've always loved the idea of customizing my own builds stuff.
Budget wise, I guess I can go max at $100; I don't wanna go for something TOO expensive yet.

Anyhow, thank you for any help in advance :D

Box mods are available as regulated (with electronic processor) and unregulated (all mechanical, no electronics). Which are you interested in?

I'd love a mechanical mod. I love the whole modding stuff, but since I don't really have anyone who can actually teach me how to mod and all that stuff about ohms and batteries & all that other good stuff at the moment, I don't dare to go for mechanical mods right now...=/

A regulated mod (box or tube shaped) will always be considered safer for a newer vaper than a mechanical mod (box or tube shaped). That's because regulated mods have protection circuitry, and mechanicals don't.

I didn't really have anyone in particular to teach me about ohms and batteries, either. But I learned a lot by researching here on ECF, YouTube, and various online websites. The main reason that I created my blogs (above and below) was to help new vapers like yourself to learn what I had learned.

Kanger Kbox 200 for a regulated mod or an Incubus box for an unregulated. Any thoughts?

Nothing that jumps out at me. I would suggest using the "search" function at the upper right hand side of the forum and reading all the threads that discuss either mod. You could also use the search function on You Tube for each model, too. You might learn of some issues with the particular mod that might change your opinion.

What draws you to the KBox? If it's the promise of sheer power, then I'd let go of that thought, personally, as coming from Spinner batteries you're not likely to ever want or need that. Virtually no-one vapes at those levels, anyway.

Personally, if I was starting out toady, I'd get myself a VTC Mini - great mods, plenty powerful (75W) and plenty of features (TC with SS mode etc) and are known good quality. They're known to last a good while, too.

As for tanks, well that's a personal preference, but knowing what I know now, and having tried a few, I'd pair the VTC Mini up with an SXK Wine, Orchid v4/6, Bellus (all 3 you build your own coils) or a Sub/Toptank (you can buy premade heads for it, but also has an RBA section so you can build your own wicks/coils).

Since you are considering jumping into the "rebuildable world", factor in that with a mechanical mod that you will need to purchase an ohm reader and a voltage tester to measure your coil resistance and battery voltage. Mechanical mods don't have a built-in ohm reader or voltage meter, regulated mods do.

So I've done some researching, read reviews and came to this crossroads:

Box: iStick Pico or Wismec Reuleaux RX200 - Sure, the Pico is all around cheaper and is a little beast for it's size, but with the RX200 I get more battery life since I don't think I'm gonna crank it up to something >100w, plus I've read great things about the RX200, plus the holes for battery venting is great.

Tank: I've been reading a bit and have been seeing myself liking the RTA thing, so I thought about Youde UD Bellus, any thoughts about this is welcome, since I just chose it because of the many good reviews I've read.

Battery: I'm going for Sony VTC4 on the Pico and VTC5 for the RX200. Going for Sony because I've read reviews about how they are good quality, safe batteries.

And if you know any trust worthy websiteS that can ship to Puerto Rico(it's an island in the Caribbean, for those who don't know) that you can provide, I will really appreciate that.

Thanks for all the help:D

If you're willing to go up to $110 for a max price (because of added tax) then I would HIGHLY recommend the Hcigar VT133 which is on sale right now here:

HCigar VT133 - Evolv DNA200 $99.99

It's a DNA200 chip mod, and at $99 + tax it's an absolute steal. It's a dual 18650 mod so it's limited to "only" 133 watts max, but it uses the DNA200 chip and is a really quality mod. You won't find a DNA200 mod at a cheaper price.

I have the RX200. I'm not sure I could recommend it due to the shoddy 510 connector on them. If you buy one be aware that many tanks do not screw down flush on them and if you overtighten them you'll break the 510 connector.

Genuine Sony VTC batteries are certainly good quality and safe batteries as you said. However, there are better options available today by reputable battery companies.

The Sony VTC4 is a 23 amp battery with 2100mAh. Sony VTC4 2000mAh 18650 Retest Results...a great 23A 2100mAh battery

The Sony VTC5 is a 20 amp battery with 2600mAh.
Sony VTC5 2500mAh 18650 Retest Results...a great 20A 2600mAh battery

Alternatively, you could go with an Lg HG2, Samsung 30Q, or "new" AW which also have 20 amps, but all three have 3000mAh for longer time between charges.

LG INR18650-HG2 20A 3000mAh Bench Retest Results...a great 20A battery!

Samsung 30Q 20A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Retest Results...a great 20A/3000mAh battery!

AW 20A 3000mAh Flat-Top 18650 Bench Test Results...a good high-capacity 20A battery, could be an HG2

Not sure what the availability of 18650 batteries in Puerto Rico is like, but I'd go with the larger mAh capacity if I were you.

I have the RX200 and use three LG HG2 batteries in it.

I've got a Bellus (well a Bellus clone which I paid USD$12 for - it's 1:1 asides from having no engravings) - and I must say it's a decent, solid tank as far as flavour, and overall performance is concerned.

With the adjustable airflow controller, it can be turned down to a hard MTL pull with 2-6 of the tiny 32 airholes open, and to wide-open DTL with all 32 opened.

It also comes with a single-coil adapter that allows you to run it with one coil by blocking off one side of the air and juice-flow - it works pretty well - still plenty of clouds and flavour for my tastes, and it drinks half as much juice.

I'd recommend the Bellus as a more 'advanced' RTA as it's a little finicky to build on, having a slightly old-fashioned 3-post deck, and needs wicking just-so to not lek and to perform well. Once you've got it sussed though, it's easy to replicate again and again, and it's a great tank.

I've got at least 10 decent box mods but was looking for something that could do temperature control. It is there if you want it but you do not need to use it.

I caught the Wismec RX200s COLORS Preorder today. They are going for $39ea and they normally list at around $60. I ordered two of them. I'll probably be ordering two DNA200 models, and at least two more RX200s COLORS models.

I have a Pico and just love it! I'm running vct5's in it. Small, powerful, tons of features, cheap and a replaceable battery, huge in my book!
I also have the Eleaf Istick TC 200w on the way (hopefully tomorrow?) I've got three hg2's coming with it. Like you, I wanted the run time and think it will be great on vacation here in a few weeks.
Ordered from VapeNW with the coupon mentioned above it was $50.48, mod and batteries shipped!
The Istick 100w is another good option.
Tanks, I'm just not going to even go there! I'm looking for more myself and my head is still spinning from looking at so many trying to figure out if they will work for me! I like mouth to lung not direct lung hits like so manny are meant for now.
