Hi all
I finely found a use for that worthless cold heat soldering gun someone gave me for Xmass
Works off 4 aa battery's and has a nice led so I can tell when the battery's are running low.
I know it's a large Beast But HAY!! for siting at the computer it's a real work Horse.
I used a reset button off an old computer so I cant have a senior moment and leave it on.
If I find 4 AA bats to be to much I can build a dummy and take one away.
So far It's SMOKIN!!
Just need to let off the button about half way through a pull or it will give you such a hit your eyes will water.
Now to go try to find some cheapo menthol crystals.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing that...I got one of those as a present several years ago, and it's just been collecting dust since then. Not for long!

Sure, consult the childish scribble below. this is how I like to make mine, with the switch sort-of in the middle, instead of on the side. I don't make these much anymore, usually I do 2/AA mods that take AA size 3.7 volt batteries.

Aaron,

Would you mind explaining the wiring in the 4x battery box, some of it isn't visible and gets lost under the epoxy and behind the contacts.

Thanks,
Brian

Thanks Aaron, I can't easil get my hands on the single 14500 batteries (have to order from DX), so I made a couple (one 901 and one 801) 4x sizes to hold me over. I went 'AA' for the larger capacity. I also went 'AA' because of the extra room in the box. I figured I'd get my hands wet with something a tad easier.

They defnitely work really well. I did my 801 first and the button and atomizer are all mounted in the last battery place holder. I saw your pictures and thought that would be much more ergonimically friendly, so I did that with my 901...It's way more comfortable...Thanks Again.

I also know a way to make a mod using all 4 batteries! Did you ever see this one? you have to put the connector on the oustide of the box, so it's not as secure as the 3 battery version, but it works. There are certain types of rectangluar push switches that fit PERFECTLY where the original slide on/off goes, that is a push switch in the second picture, not a slide. the wiring does not get in the way, you can do it in AA or AAA size, as long as there's a master switch on the box like this one had it will work. Wiring is even simpler than the 3 battery version.

Ya, I didn't get out the rolling pin, I almost cried after waiting so long. You should have it by tomorrow I'm thinking, but also now the cover by the switch that was glued stuck is all ickied up cuz of the stuff you told me to put on it to make it come unstuck.
