The number 8 wick says:
Square braid wicks were originally designed for the viscosity of beeswax candles, however, they can still be used for soy and paraffin creations as well. Our square braid wicks are unprimed (raw) and untabbed. Our candle wicks need to be primed with the wax of your choice prior to use. Test burning candles using various wick sizes is recommended to determine the right size wick for your particular application. Approx. 0.1in (2.5mm) diameter. Not for use with 20mm x 6mm wick tabs. Total wick length is 10 yards.

So.. 2.5 mm, not 3 :)

Why do I keep forgetting eBay? I needed some extra stuff for an Amazon order so that's why I ordered the cotton. I will look at eBay if I end up liking cotton wick. I ordered 200 ft of kanthal from eBay a couple days ago for $15 that was nice (100ft of 28gauge and 100ft of 32gauge).

I got every kind of ekowool OKCVapes has except for the 4mm threaded, trying them all. Just started with RDAs so I haven't found my favorite wick yet. :)
i just got me some of this here stuff :p
3mm threaded
Ekowool Silica Wick

Yeah it was free shipping. Good to know though, I will bookmark them. Thanks for the tip.

If #8 means 8 gauge, it is 3.2mm.

You are better off buying Kanthal from Temco, unless you received free shipping from the ebay seller.

Kanthal A1

I feel like I would fuss too much getting it to the right density. But I do have a huge bag of cotton balls so maybe I will try it.

just go get a cotton ball out of your medicine cabinet ;)

When I run out of the 50ft of wick I just ordered (ekowool/cotton), I'll give it a try. :) Well I'll try before I run out in case I can't do it.

It seems like it would be, but it is easy. I got a wick on my first try. Took all of two minutes including threading.

But if I wrap the coil around a jumbo cotton ball I'll have a mega wick.

a cotton ball will actually roll out flat and it's simple to tear off a strip.
