Brand new Atomizers beat slightly used atomizers

Has anyone else here noticed this? When an atomizer is brand new, it vapes awesome. But after about the first tank, you notice a change. It doesn't flow as fast, requires a little more voltage, and just all around isn't as good as when it was brand spanking new. I realize that's how it is with pretty much anything you can buy but when it comes to vaping its just not tolerable. After a couple of tanks, I'm ready to switch out my atomizer and get a brand new one so I can get back to that great vaping experience, rather than just one that's pretty good.

How can I offset this? I'm thinking that building a mod might be what I need to do. With a mod, I could set it up to vape a lot faster and produce much more vapor. With the OEM stuff, it seems to slow down after that first tank. You have a tighter draw, and you get slightly less vape. With a mod I could go overkill, and as such once it started to lose its newness, I wouldn't be able to tell cause it would still be above a normal oem vaping setup. Right now I'm using a Kanger protank with a ego c-twist at 3.7 volts. Cranking up the volts doesn't really help, it just burns the juice. Thoughts? Opinions?

The atomizer head is a replaceable part of most clearomizers and juice delivery devices.

Cleaning your tank and running the head under hot water every 2-4 fills helps a great deal. You can also dry-burn the head on top of your battery every few days or so, to remove any juice build-up on it. Doing this, you'll find that you keep your vape performance in the higher levels.

Some people prefer to soak their used heads in vodka or some other alcohol for a few hours. This also helps restore the performance of the atomizer heads.

You just have to give them a little attention.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say the "head". Is that the entire atomizer itself? Can I just take my Protank 1 apart and drown it in hot water? I wasn't sure if that was good for it or not.

Yes you can. Unscrew all the bits you can, the bottom piece from the tank and then the atomizer from the base. Rinse everything in very hot running water. Get a Q-tip inside the tank if you can, or some rolled up paper towel - don't forget to clean down the center tube.

Just make sure to shake it and blot it dry before reconnecting it to your battery and you'll be fine.

Thanks a lot for that video! That really helps.

The coil is hyper performing until a coating builds up. I have my devices setup for broken in coil. I sometimes run fresh coil on partially drained batt till coil breaks in to avoid burn.

So you're saying that you don't really clean your coils much? If you're set up for broken in coils with a coating, you wouldn't want to clean them all that often cause during the initial clean phase, you wouldn't be setup for it. Sound about right?

I use my bottom coil tank setup for driving around and in areas that I can't risk making a mess (around little kids).
I keep a couple of RBA drippers around my house. With some time and modification I can make real decent clouds of vapor and get about 50 mL through it before the wick and coil need cleaning or replacing, mostly replacing. I just buy wick and wire so my total cost per coil is about 0.30 USD and takes about 10 minutes.. The drippers I own can leak out the air flow hole if your not paying atention and hold it upside down so that's the only down side.

I just soak the coils for a couple of hours in PGA a few times and then I toss them. I rinse my tanks in warm water and air dry. I'm not that ambitious. They are a buck apiece.

ETA 1: If you dry burn, you have to rinse your coil afterwards with water or alcohol or it will taste burnt. You need to get rid of the ash.

ETA 2: Always close that sink stopper when you clean your e-cig parts. Trust me. I've learned the hard way. Small parts fall off and get permanently lost in the drain.

Other than that, nice video.

I rarely clean coils but I prefer unflavored which doesn't tend to foul.

I do clean coil on my flavor testing atty when gunked up. In general, the dark liquids foul coil faster than clearish liquids. Now days, I use RDA for flavor testing because it is very easy to clean. Back in the day, some flavors would foul wick on standard CE2/306/401/510/RN4081 attys so bad I couldn't always dry burn clean.

Ok well I've given it some time and have cleaned my protank a few times, as instructed in the video. I don't know why, but I still can't get it back to "new". When it comes to the atomizers. Maybe I just need more experience? But I swear the draw gets tighter and tighter. I like an easy draw with a lot of vapor. So far, in my experience, that's only possible with brand spanking new 1.8ohm Kanger atomizers. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Perhaps I need to upgrade to something better? Could my ego C-twist clone be what's holding me back? Its not that old, only having been charged about 20 times.
