I just received my new kayfun 3.1 ES CLONE today....I bought it off Ebay-- seller touting that it's the #1 kayfun clone?!? It's a bit intimidating, but then, so is my wife at times and I can deal with her! :)

So--- Here are my questions:

1) Do I need to clean this thing? I smelled every thread looking for machining oil scent and it's clean... nothing -- if I should clean it anyway, just hot water should be fine? I don't want to lose any O-rings -- and I don't really want to scrub this thing to much- and I don't want to taste soap or anything... what do y'all recommend?

2) There is already a coil installed- it is reading 2.59 ohms -- kinda what I am used to with my Protanks and Evods... All I have is an MVP to fire this thing with... So max is 5 volts or 11 watts?? I know I know - I need to sub ohm or go lower Ohms... and go higher watts and all that to get the full enjoyment out of this thing.... but, for now I am not going to get a new Mod - I just want to use it on my MVP for now.... but I want to get the best enjoyment out of it that I can for what I have. Should I rebuild? I have some 32 gauge kanthal --- but no cotton. I do have some pre made wicks I bought from fastech -- 1.5 ohms and 2.5 ohms using their Silica. I have rebuilt the Evods and Protanks -- this doesn't scare me much.... I have lots of bookmarked videos on how to do the rebuilding thing -- just wondering what y'all recommend. should I rebuild for my first experiance?

3) The drip tip O-ring doesn't like to disappear like the other O-rings do when I screw things together -- Is this normal or do I have a pregnant O-ring (defective)? I can't see this really being that big a deal... just doesn't look as refined.

4) I have done dry runs of assembly and dis-assembly to familiarize myself with the parts... it seems the most challenging thing for me to do is, get the wicks inside the part where the chimney goes into.... I guess I need to wet the wicks and tuck them down around the rectangular base where the screws are? I have seen this done in videos with cotton -- so, my question is - Is all the wick should be wet prior to assembling the chimney to make things easier? and do not block the little slits in the threads- because that is where the juices comes up to attack the wicks?

5) I saw a vid where a guy doesn't ever remove the fill screw.... I think I want to do mine this way too -- I am good at dropping tiny parts and them disappearing into- my brain was thinking of saying the Indian Ocean -- but that would of been a bad joke... disappearing into the abyss of my surroundings?!?!? That, and the least amount of leaking possibilities are my goal.... Any feedback on this??

Thats about it.... my newbie - apprehensive- questions.... I am excited! I hope this thing is everything that everyone raves about!

Cheers!

For future reference you may want to have a little less verbage. Most including me see all this and just move on to the next question. Pics help
1: You should clean new attys if possible. They often times do have oil and chemical residue.
2: Keep the resistance between 1.5 and 3 ohms and you should be fine. I don't sub ohm. And unless you want to get one of the DNA mods you won't be able to go below 1.2-1.5 depending on the mod. IMO you don't have to.
3: The drip tip o-ring is not a big deal as long as you can get a pretty good seal. FYI they make adapters so you can use a regular drip tip on the kayfuns.
4: I have found it is easier to get the wick in the right place after you have put on the bottom half of the chimney. Wet is better. It makes the wick stay in place.
5: Many Kayfun 3.1's don't have a filling hole. All of the lites and lite plus's have them and some 3.1s have them. You can fill it from the top with the very top piece of the kayfun removed. But be quick and hold your finger over the vent hole. Even then you will have a flooded wick at first and some may drip out the air hole. I find that if you have a bottom fill screw hole that is the best way. If you don't want to lose the screw you can make sure you don't do this over thick carpet or where it will go under furniture. A padded place mat is good. I have a special mat that locksmiths use for that.
So next time try to be brief and any pics you can supply will help. Human nature we like to look at the pictures. LOL

Like Steved5600 said, clean it first clones always seem to have machine oil on them and you don't want to inhale that stuff, I put one of those wire strainers over the drain incase I drop an oring or something.
Don't worry about sub ohming it, I run my Kayfun clones around 1.1-1.5 ohms and get great performance out of them, I actually find sub-ohming is to harsh without more air flow than the kayfun can deliver anyway.
