Hi ECF,

I got a lavatube in the mail today. Charged it, vaped for an hour and now it's dead. I didnt charge it for that long but the charger turned green (battery full). What is going on? Has this happened to anyone else?

How do you read the lava's battery meter? It said 3.9 but I was getting no vape. What does the meter say when the battery is dead/too low to vape?

Thanks

to the OP,

i would first check to make sure the atty/carto is still good. if you are using the chrome version press the fire button 5x's fast to see the ohm reading.. if it reads F1 your issue isnt the device but what is on it. if its the new lavatube version 2 hold down the + button to see the ohm.. if it shows as 9.9 its what is on it.

as far as the battery full charge will be between 4.1-4.2 and dead is 3.2-3.3 and will also read LO if you try to use it with a dead battery.

i'd call CS regardless, most of the time they will be able to diagnose an issue with the device, if any, chances are it's one of two things, you either got a short on your attached juice delivery, or your switch has gone out....if it's the former then it's an easy fix, if it's the latter, than it's a warranty issue that will probably require shipping back to hawaii....

thanks deleon. I clicked and immediately got an F1. huh. This is why ECF is the bomb - that trick isnt on the Volcano site and there is no instruction manual that came with my Lava. Brand new Vivi and a bad atty. I should be calling them I guess but I just got some other bad products from China and I'm just too frustrated to start the multi-month process of getting it rectified.

Volcano is in Hawaii? huh. Glad I don't have to send it back and wait.

any time chinaexpert1... im a regular in volcanos forums and chatroom i know the products like the back of my hand.

since its a vivi i would just swap out the head and that should clear it up for ya.

this right here....and with the bad head you can try your hand at rebuilding

The way the Lavatube fires, like other Pulse Width Modulation devices, it pulses between a high voltage and 0 volts to get the voltage you have set. That higher pulse can short out atomizers or Vivi heads that are close to going bad. Start with low volts and increase until you get the vape you want. I have lost a few atomizers that were working fine on my Ego batteries, but couldn't handle my Lavatube.

yeah im intrigued. I actually just saw a video of a guy rebuilding a vivi - looks simple but I have no tools right now. I guess I'm going to be the lazy one for now.

.....you really don't need tools....you can literally do it with your bare hands as long as you have wick and wire.

Im not shocked. I have personally been dissapointed in Volcano in general. Friend reccomended them to me. Bought two infernos, one for me and one for wife. Like the aesthetics, but the tank just doesnt fit well and wobbles around a bit. Anyway, my wife has a red inferno, which was supposed to be pink. It came in wrong but she ended up liking the color so no harm no foul. Then she saw that they offered a red tank to go on it and we ordered it. When it came in it was ORANGE!!! Not even a red orange, but pumpkin friggin orange. We left it in package and emailed them about exchanging it for a clear one. The response i got was ...no, even though it was unopened it was a consumable product and couldnt be returned. So twice in one week we get two items the wrong color and they could care less. Now two weeks old and one of the bats is dead. It does have a warranty, but im done with them. Gonna take the loss and order better gear from a better company. Oh, they also sent us the wrong liquid with the kit and it is nasty too. Will probably get Joyetech equivalent and will just keep using highbrow and johnson creek for my juice needs. Volcano is out for us.

Gee thumper, i'm sorry to hear that. I've heard Volcano has ....terrible customer service. There's a lot of "hardware snobbery" about Lavatube vs Provari on the VV end of things, but I've had a great experience with my lavatube now that I changed out the bad atty. It basically does the same thing as the provari. As the thread on the provari will tell you, the difference is basically customer service, a tighter build, made in the USA, and about $80 price when it is all said and done. From what I hear from you, it might be worth the extra $80 if you are looking to go variable volt eventually, but I'm happy with my lavatube so far and I'm glad I saved the money, my CC is already maxed out from juice, atomizers, batteries, the whole nine. We'll see if it lasts - I hope I don't have to deal with their customer service. If my LT breaks I'll probably get a provari, but I don't plan to be such a snob about it. I've also heard good things about VAMO though, it's PBusardo's rec, and you might want to look at that if you want a bigger VV device with longer battery life.

I started out on an Ego-C and I still love it, it's my go-to device for running around town because of it's great size and overall ease of use. I started out on stardust but found them leaking and melting (the atomizer starts to tilt in the tank) so I switched to type B atomizer and tips. Happy with that so far - the tanks are cheap and make it easy to switch around between flavors if you're like me and you have a deep rotation. I also ordered some drip atty's, but they are not really for me, as they flood with over three drops and as a chain vaper, three drops lasts me about 30 seconds before I have to re-drip. I dropped some coin and got 4 vivi novas for my main flavors.

That's my experience so far. Hope this helps, most of these vets have sunk thousands into every single different device and atomizer, and I am not about that kind of outlay for my smoking habit...
