I filled out the answers to the questionairre that someone posted. Please suggest an e-cig for me! My head it spinning with all these choices. I had no idea there was so many decisions to make?!? Thank you in advance for your help!

1. How many cigarettes did you smoke or are currently smoking per day? A number is very helpful since my idea of a heavy or casual smoker could be very different from yours.
6-10/day.

2. Did you smoke ultra lights, lights, full flavor, filter-less, roll-your-own or cigars?
Lights

3. How important is it for your electronic cigarette (also called a mod, PV or APV) to look like and feel like a cigarette to you?
Not important. I would rather it didn't look like a cigarette actually.

3. Do you like things big, bulky and durable or do you prefer small and compact?
Durable

4. Which shape is more pleasing to you to hold: something cylindrical or a box shape?
Cylindrical

5.How long would you like or need the batteries to last in a typical day.For some this an 8 hour shift or could be 16 or more hours depending on your lifestyle.
10 hours at best would work.

6. How much effort do you want to put into vaping? Do you want something that requires little effort or are you more of a tinkerer? Generally extremely active lifestyles or someone who's constantly on the go doesn't have a lot of time but the reverse could be true for you as well.
Less effort. Simple to use.

7.Do you think you would prefer tobacco, menthol, fruit and candy or dessert flavors?
Menthol, & maybe fruit, candy, etc.

8.Do you think you would like a warmer or a cooler vape? (A warm vape uses higher voltage or lower resistances to make the vapor warmer in your mouth while a cool vape works just the opposite) Also let us know if you have sensitivities to cold or an aversion to hot liquids.
Not sure

9. What is more important to you, throat hit (that feeling of weight or tickle hitting the back of your throat when you inhale) , vapor production (the amount of vapor or steam produced by your device and/or e-liquid) orflavor(The intensity of the taste of the vapor)? Again its okay to have more than one answer but please list them in order of importance.
Flavor first, then throat hit.

10.Which is more important to you, price, quality, ease of use, or reliability? Its okay to have more than one answer just list them in order of importance.
Quality first... ease of use

11.How much are you looking to spend on your initial purchase or upgrade?
Less than $100

12. Have you looked at any other accessories such as clearomizers, cartomizers, tanks, pre-filled cartidges etc and do you have any questions about how they work or what they are?
Yes, what's "tank" referring to?

13. Would you feel more comfortable vaping (popular term used to refer to inhaling vapor from an electronic cigarette, mod, PV or APV) in public or do you prefer to do it in private?
Either, I tend to be uncomfortable smoking in public, but I do it anyway:laugh:

14. Whats your favorite color?
Purple, but I like lots of colors!

15. Do you have any disabilities or other difficulties that might have a bearing on your choice? ex: some peoples wrists aren't strong enough to hold a big battery mod or their eyesight doesnt allow easy filling of ejuice (the liquid containing nicotine and flavoring used in electronic cigarettes, also referred to as nicquid or e-liquid)
No

16. Have you thought about securing backup devices in the event of failure or purchasing extra batteries?
Yes....necessary. Especially once I throw out my analogs (as I intend to do)

17. Do you think you would prefer a battery that starts at 3.7 volts and gradually drops in voltage and vapor production as it drains or would you prefer the voltage to stay the same throughout the life of the battery?
I would prefer it to stay the same

Also, I would prefer a manual!

First off, welcome to ECF and congratuations upon your choice to quit smoking!

There's two directions that you could go in your choice of gear to use, based upon your questionaire answers. I did not include variable voltage/wattage devices as you did not include an interest in these. You did not require the devices to look or be the size of a cigarette, which is great because the larger sized batteries provide much longer vaping time and power than the "stick batteries".
_______________________________________

The first would be the mid-sized mid-level eGo sized batteries. These are about the size of a long cigar. This choice would get you started vaping cheaper than the second method, which would be to go with an advanced personal vaporizer (APV) or also called a mod.

The eGo is itself a large battery which can be recharged by using an USB cord that attaches to a computer. These batteries are designed to be able to be recharged around 250 times, and then the performance will decline...eventually needing to be discarded and replaced.

Battery life per charge is between 6-13 hours, depending upon the length (size) of the battery. Batteries may be purchased in a variety of colors and come with a passthru charger.

http://smokelessimage.com/batteries/x2-battery.html $20-$30 each

http://altsmoke.com/starterkit/joye-ego-c-starter-kit.html $65 kit

Smokeless Image X2 batteries (eGo size)
_______________________________________

The mods are essentially battery holders, much like a flashlight tube. These are made of heavier and more durable materials than the eGo style batteries, which means that they could last you years of use. Because of the build and materials, they are more expensive initally to buy, but consider how long they will last you. Because of their size and build, they are larger and heavier to hold than the eGo batteries.

These use small replaceable, rechargeable batteries that are inexpensive (< $10) and can last up to a year. These batteries can last 6-24 hours per charge. A battery charger that is dedicated for these types of batteries would be required with the purchase.

A person could theoretically carry only one of these devices with an extra battery for all day use. With the eGo battery choice, one would need to carry more than one device to last an entire day. Being a larger form factor, mods can carry larger juice carrying devices such as tanks, for up to 8 ml of liquid which can last 2 days or more.

The above devices are only offered as examples and are models that I am personally familiar with, there are many more available that I'm certain other posters will recommend. I show these only to give you a comparitive idea of what is out there for you to choose.

Juice is subjective on the battery something like a Lambo 4 or a Lava tube. Both use replaceable batteries. For a back up something like an Ego twist or spinner. For atty's Id go with a claro. Something like a Vivi or a repairable CE. You can spend more but for now I'd start cheaper and make up you mind if you will stick with it. What ever you do have backups though. At least 2 batteries and chargers and maybe a way to charge in the car for trips etc. The attys are somewhat subjective as each does it a bit diff. You may want to have one tank as the tanks last longer than say a regular carto. Juice again that is up to you and you should try a variety pack at first. If I remember you get 5-10 ml and in packs of around 5. Some will let you pick the flavors some have bundles. I have been to to may to recall them. LOL. Welcome to ECF and here is some other stuff you may be able to use.

I really don't have much to add other then you have received great advice above. I agree that the kgo is great alternative to the ego. I have one and I love the pass through feature. This allows you vape and charge at the same time. I also like my mod, I have a lava tube knock off that I picked up in a kit for 50 bucks. Whatever you chose, don't forget to order an assortment of cartomizes and attomizers. If you like the idea of a tank, I would recommend the vivi nova. Be forewarned that you may have to experiment with different brands of juice and hardware until you find a setup that works for you. I hope this helps.

A couple of eGo Twist or KGOs with two eGo chargers and a couple of Vivi Novas V2 or above and Vivi Nova replacement heads (5 at least). That's a $100 worth of equipment for ya!

Now the juices are the hardest part usually but maybe i can suggest for the 'fruity' one "Hype - PG" from Alien Visions @12mg, it has great throat hit and tastes like peaches and cantaloupe. Menthol i hear fantastic things about Mountain Oak Vapor and their Sweet and Tobacco flavors are fantastic, you gotta try the White Leaf(vanilla tobacco) and Cinnamon Roll.

Anyway good luck

Btw you can even stick to your analogs and watch them not getting lit forever like happened to me. I have a pack in my nightstand right were I left it 6 months ago.

Since durability was the key factor you focused on, I'd say a BB or Silver Bullet from Altsmoke, or the Provari-1. I have a BB, I can drive a truck over this thing! It's dropped two stories and bounced off a wood floor! It's tuff, easy to fix, (if you do something dumb like I have) and is a nice size! I have the Provari V-2, if the Provari-1 is built half as well it's as, or more durable than the BB! The Silver Bullet is the same quality as the BB, but quite a bit larger.
If you go with the BB or P-1, I really suggest getting four batteries for them. They use 14500 batteries, the size of AA's but at 3.7v, they last me around 3-4hrs.
I have a cheap Lava Tube clone and it's not something I would call "durable" by any stretch of the imagination! Every time I drop it, even in the slightest, I cringe thinking it will never work again!
Cartomizers are the "...." end of the battery, depending on what you get, they can last 3-6 hours (depending on use). Tanks are much bigger and bulkier, but hold a lot more juice and last a lot longer. I find they are a lot more convenient to use, I don't have to pop the cap off and try to refill a cartomizer every few hours, just top it off daily or so.

i've been vaping almost two years and am one of the top ten laziest people on the planet, somewhat of a cheapskate, semi air-headed, and extremely absent-minded. therefore, since constantly misplacing and maintaining high end pv's would prove mighty difficult and expensive in my world, i've never gotten into mods. but i have tried virtually every single popular ego type setup imaginable...some take too much work -- eeww. some are super cheap -- yet, you get too cheap and...yeah, you get what you pay for. so, i don't scrimp when it comes to my tried and true setup:

i use 1000mah genuine joye ego batteries (available through many vendors, including cignot.com -- excellent reputation here on ECF and *extremely* fast shipping), 3.5ml chrome DCT's (Dual Coil Tanks) with 1.7 or 2.0ohm *single* coil pre-punched cartos (using single coils promotes battery life and longevity), and aluminum drip tips (all also available many places; i get mine from smoktek.com).

this setup is satisfying, reliable, inexpensive, long lasting, and ridiculously easy and simple to use and maintain. i always have 3-4 batteries, 2 chargers, 2-3 tanks, and a bunch of pre-punched cartos on hand at all times -- i haven't been stuck without my nic fix yet.

i started out buying juices (literally hundreds of them...i don't even want to know how much i spent), but found that making my own was a whole *lot* cheaper and way easier than i'd imagined...plus, i don't have to worry about waiting for "sales" (which can affect the price by as much as 30-50% in many cases), or freak out when my "all-day" (fave) juice is out of stock or no longer available, and the quality control department around here is second to none...well, most of the time, anyway. ;)

Welcome! You are in good hands here, some great advice

As far as juice flavors go, i would recommend cruising around some of the vendors sites and buying "sample packs" which will provide you with small bottles so you can try many different styles without sinking too much money into something you dont like...it can take some time to find something you do, or no time at all, but i think the key is to branch out and try all kinds of different things, you never know what you will like

i for instance was a menthol smoker and my all day everyday flavor is nothing like that, oddly enough

here are a few places to start

E-Liquid 3ml Sample 4 Pack - $10.00 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids

Sample Juice | Vaperite E-Juices | Vaperite.com

Rawr Vapor: Sample Packs - E-Juice

its a good time to purchase things as many places seem to be having holiday sales

happy vaping!

I would go with a couple eGo batteries, a charger, 5 Boge cartomizers, a few Kanger T3s, and some juice to start off. This would not meet your preference to have the voltage remain stable until the battery is fully discharged, but it would not be that noticeable until the final few minutes of use, at which point you could just recharge. It would be a lot more affordable than going with a mod for your first purchase.

I've been vaping for four months now, and started with Smokeless Image Volt stuff. But I'd definitely recommend them. They have a vendor forum here, too.

I have the eGo sized "Volt X2" batteries which I use with their cartomizers... tried the clearomizers, but I find myself using cartomizers more, and just refilling with SI liquids. I started with their short 65mm batteries and cartos because I wanted something that resembled an analog; I wasn't disappointed and I haven't gone back to analogs since my first vape.

The X2 batteries have a much longer life, and you can use them with regular 808 cartomizers or (I think?) eGo thread clearomizers.

The questions you answered seem similar to answers I would have given when I started, so maybe the Smokeless Image stuff might work for you. I've yet to try out other companies, since there are so many options... I'm still new to this, but SI stuff is working for me now and it was a good basic introduction to vaping, in my opinion. They have sampler packs of cartomizers... I tried the "mild" sample pack, which is made up of tobacco flavors, and the "fruit" pack. The fruit pack was surprisingly good, in my opinion. The tobacco stuff isn't exactly tobacco flavored, but was similar enough for me that it satisfied my urge for cigarettes. I really love the 555 and Desert Joe flavors. Incidentally, I tried all their flavors except for menthol, and have enjoyed them all. New Grape and Watermelon are currently my favorite fruit flavors.

I would definitely recommend trying their sampler packs (or any prefilled carto sampler packs that other vendors offer) and an 808 battery (65 or 73mm) to start... and at least a usb charger. I started with their sealed automatic batteries and still use those, but have moved up to the manual X2 batteries for home use.

The X2 batteries have a much longer life, and you can use them with regular 808 cartomizers or (I think?) eGo thread clearomizers.

Just to make things clear....Smokeless Image batteries and juice delivery devices are all 808-threaded. eGo batteries and their attachments are all 510-threaded. The two styles are incompatible with each other unless inexpensive adaptors are used between the two different threaded styles. A minor inconvenience.

My suggestion would be an ego twist and a few 'kanger t2's and t3's'. The ego twist is a battery that will allow you to twist the voltage up and down. The kanger t2 is a top coil clearomizer (like a tank) and the t3 is a bottom coil clearomizer. The juice goes into the clearomizer and the battery supplies the power to vaporize it. This is the setup I suggest to all new vapers as it's what worked to get my stubborn analog a@@ to make the switch (successfully I might add) to the wonderful world of ecigs. I'm actually sitting inside my favorite coffee shop vaping (with a smoking hot barrista) while I type this.

This is the set up I would recommend as well. I would go with the Ego twist batteries. You dont know how warm or cool you want your vape to be so the twist can do both making it your best bet in my opinion. It is tried and true. With the tank recommended you will have a fiddle free set up that lasts all day on a charge Good luck..

I'm kinda new too. I started in October with Halo e-cig, but it became apparent that these were not really giving me what I needed. SOOOO after hours of research I took the plunge and ordered what I would like to call my first proper grown up kit. This is what I went for:

2x eGo c twist batterys 650mHA
2x Kanger T3 cleromizer

Am waiting on delivery and hope to receive it tomorrow...

Any thoughts on my choice Good or bad ???
