Well lets see where should i start. Ive been vaping for a little less than a month. I have not been very happy with the clearo's i have been purchasing. So i was surfing the net and watched some videos of Phil Busardo. At which I found his video for the Taifun. Then i saw the Fogger clone. I couldnt resist i went and found it as quickly as possible. I bought the version 2 of it. Now i just need to figure out exactly what i need to get started besides the wicks and wire. Im assuming i can get just a regular multimeter and it should suffice to test my resistances. What else would you as a community suggest i get. As far as resistances I am not interested in going sub ohm currently hoping to make my coils between 1.5 and 2.0 ohm. I am also looking for where i can purchase the items i need for building wicks, mesh, wire. I know that when it arrives i will probably try out a ss mesh coil to start but i would also like to try organic cotton and silca wick builds as well.

Well If I may put My 2 cents in... could send you to several places on Line Like RBA Supplies for xc-116, or one of Several other places for wire, Ribbon, SS mesh/rope. But I suggest going to a Meet or B&M and have someone show you what to do as it can only help and it will protect yourself and device...Videos are great to see what Needs to be DOne but watching someone build a Coil and Installing it on your atty is Priceless...

well besides a meter not much else except getting in there and having a go.
I get wire at temco
silica from lightning vapes on amazon
and mesh from okcvapes

from there i would just follow the rebuild videos for the taifun. rebuildables are one of those things where some things just dont click until you do it and understand what your trying to do.

WEll I built My first Coil today!! Was not as hard as I thought it would Be...I just mesured the old wick took a gamble that 4 wraps of .32 would not be under 1,4 and MADE SURE NOTHING TOUCHED...Used my cheap meter and it came out to 1.7...the Taste is AMAZING!!

Glad you made a working wick/coil, just for my own conscience, did you zero out your meter(touch the two leads together)? You have to check the internal resistance of your meter by zeroing it out, and then subtract that from whatever reading you get from your coil.

@ Stanley - I'm glad you're here asking questions! Safety should be your primary concern as you are embarking on your rebuildable adventure. Watch a few videos on battery safety. You've gotta be super careful with your builds as well as your batteries or you risk blowing your mod up in your face.

General rules of thumb:
1. Understand your battery's amp limitations
2. Understand the amp draws of your build (there are plenty of tables floating around for amp and wattage draw of various resistance builds)
3. Purchase and understand the use of a good multimeter
4. Check and double check the resistance of your build
5. Check your build with your multimeter and then check it on a mod too (e.g. on a pro-vari, vamo, or other similar)
6. Be careful! Don't max out your battery's limitations! Most electronics experts will recommend that you shouldn't draw more than half of your battery's state amp output capabilities.
7. Be careful!
8. If you press the fire button and nothing happens, check to make sure that you don't have a hard short!
9. Be careful!

Of course I want to be as safe as I possibly can. I'm not interested in subohm vaping or anything so I'm not going to be attempting to put anymore stress on my batteries than just a normal store bought coil would. Already know which multimeter I want too. And when I bought my svd I actually took pictures of the chart that pbursardo posted in his video. So that I wouldn't be overtaxing it in any way. I know that a multimeter will suffice for the moment. I would like to get a meter specifically for 510 connections just so I can take out more room for human error. And I am using a svd so I'm not running into some of the things that can happen with a mech. Just for starters I think I have all I need except the experience. And that's the most important thing.
