Hi All,

A woman at work is smoking e-cigs and she really has a lot of praise for them. My plan is to cut down my regular cigarette smoking, with e-cigs in between.. Then get off real cigs, and do e-cigs, until eventually tapering down to nothing, or just vapor.

That being said.. I'm looking for what in your opinion is the most convenient, good throat hit, reliable, blah blah, all around "Does what it is supposed to" E-Cig.. Price isn't a terrible concern.. I just want something that you LOVE..

Any thoughts?

Jeffery,

What are you looking for? A cigarette look alike? A vapor machine? A convient e-cig? There are so many e-cigs that unless more is known it's hard to reccomend. I want to get in before everyone tells you that the eGo is the only way to go.

When I'm in the car and out of my house I use a Kr808D-1. The 808 uses cartomizers that I can refill easily. One carto last me a day if I'm out of the house alot or 2-3 days if I stay home abit.

When I am at home I use my Inferno for vaping with a LR (low resistance) Cisco addy. Provides lots of vapor good flavor and dripping is awesome. Not really something I take out with me largely due to the size of it. My Inferno can also use cartidges but I prefer to drip with it.

Stalk the forums, read the newbie section check out the reviews and look at the suppliers cites. I'm 100% positive every question you have can be answered on this forum.

Please stay away from any Mall, local tobacco shop, free sample e-cig. They are way over priced and not really the best quality e-cigs going.

Hi Jeffereyjames, and welcome to ECF! good decision with the ecigs :) I am analog free for 8 months now, these things do really work! as for the e-cig itself, I would recommend an eGo its the one I have and I really enjoy it, simple and works well. Liberty-flights still has some starter kits for $40 which is a phenomenal price!
E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings I just looked and they have some left at that price!
As for the juice? tastes are very subjective I would recommend getting your juice from FSUSA, I have found their stuff to be the best around :) and you should stick to ordering small size bottles till you decide which flavors you enjoy.FreedomSmokeUSA

Good luck! and come back here if you have any questions! the people here are very good at helping ;)

Welcome to ECF! You can try starting off with maybe a Joye 510 or a KR808D-1. Both are good options for someone just starting out and not wanting to spend a lot of money. I haven't tried either one of those, to be quite honest. What I can tell you is that I quit the moment I started vaping with my Riva. I haven't had an analog since!

Hey Jeff, Congrats on the decision to...make a decision LOL

I just switched 2 and a half weeks ago and I love it.

I've noticed a pattern with all analog smokers that convert. Everyone says they are doing this to weed them off nicotine. First, let me say that if this is your genuine reason, i applaud you because your better then me. Personally, i loved to smoke. Just hated the smell or after taste. So, when i converted to vaping, the notion of being able to do what i was doing without all the flaws was awesome.

So, if you want to quit all together and weed yourself off then good for you!

I myself started on a joye 510 kit. It was a great start. But, if i could do it all again, id just go straight to a damn mod. yes, the starter kit gives you the look of a cigarette (more than a mod) and it will come with prefilled cartridges of tobacco flavor poly fill. But, if i could take it all back, i'd go buy myself a chuck or a silver bullet or a box mod. They last a long ... time and the extra voltage capability gives a warmer vaping experience. And, in my opinion the 5v experience makes the taste of the flavors that much more (and the vapor comes out like a frekkin train)

If you want a good mid level range kit i'd go with an Ego kit. Long battery life and you can get those mega atty's that last for a long time.

Actually, they have one now that has a USB passthrough hybrid on the end. where you can use the battery for upto 8 hours and then you can simply plug it into your CPU when your home and vape it from there (while it's charging)

in my opinion, if you want a great first experience, abandon hope on the cartridges and get cartomizers immediately. infact, they have mega cartomizers that will last you the better part of a day with full flavor (and lots of vapor) without any of the liquid dripping on your lip or tongue and getting you sick with reflux or numb tongue.

This is just from newbie to newbie.

Also, goto the veterans section and read what they have to say.

The first thing i did was i went on youtube and watched e cig reviews. CAREFUL THOUGH. because when you type in e cig reviews you will get the MOST POPULAR ones first. not the most recent.

For 2 days straight i was considering buying a damn screw driver last week LOL 2 days after that i was caught up enough to realize that was sub par to the newest mods.

If you don't want to be intimidated, go with a 510 kit or an ego 510 kit.

if you just wanna be in heaven immediately, go to a provape or a glv or a silver bullet. That being said, there are a crap load of mods that have come out over the past 2 months that you may love to see.

Good luck and keep us informed. I love seeing how others make their change. (Like or unlike mine)

Cheers!

That's the best advice anyone could give you. Not just what to do. but what NOT TO GET.

I have nothing against blu or njoy or anything like that. but, from my research and experience, those are simply names and no where near the quality you will get with other brands.

Put it this way. you can get a starter kit at 7-11 from njoy for 19.99 (which is ironically the same quality product as the kiosks at the mall for 150.00 frekkin dollars) and if it doesn't do the job you will go back to smoking $7.00 a pack of cigs a day. Or, you can drop 60-100.00 on you first kit/mod and 20.00 every 2 WEEKS in eliquid for the best vaping experience.

It costs more to buy cheap if your overall goal is to get off cancer sticks. Keep that in mind. Because you will buy crap and then end up buying a great mod or end up going back to the analogs (which will in the end harm you even worse then they already have)

Plus, it's cool as hell to smoke at your desk 8)

i ordered the 808 and im pretty excited to get it. What helped me make my decision was battery life. I'm away from the house a lot and away from a wall outlet for most of that time so i needed a long lasting battery. if you are going to be near a power source then maybe you could get a 510 cause that has more vapor. it really just depends on what you need. research it.

Jeffrey - I think when you find the right PV for you and e-juices you like, you'll prefer vaping to smoking. Definitely check out that Library link someone above gave you - there's a multi-part illustrated buyer's guide. And watch the Newbie videos it links to as well as other review and comparison videos on Youtube.

I smoked for lots of decades and was amazed how fast and easy the switch to vaping was. I researched first and picked out a PV that I thought matched the way I smoked and the amount of time/place I have to mess with cartridges (a lot since I can mess with refilling carts right at my desk).

One other thing - I think the experience with carts and cartos is fairly different, so you may want to look at models you can try both with. To me, carts are more like the draw of a real filter cigarette - a tighter draw and room temp to warm on the lips. Cartos for me are a looser draw and hotter on the lips.

Wow.. Thank you so much.. I think I may go with one of the mods you mentioned.. H*ll yea.. Ok, which one should should I get then? The GV, Silverbullet or Provape? It does look kind of weird to have that in public though no?

Hell no it doesn't look weird. Someone comes up and asks you what your smoking, you explain it and convert a smoker. Someones see's you at a no smoking bar while your tooting on a mod and smokers who have to go outside see that, they will ask and you will convert them too.

the stealth vaporers will say get a reg 510. Others will recommend a good hybrid (the ego) that's what i'm tooting on right now (if i'm not using my 5v passthru) but i'm chomping at the bit to afford a 85-110.00 mod. my friend got one last week and i'm frekkin jealous. when i got new flavors on friday i'm sitting at the table with him reviewing it on my EGO 3.7. He is reviewing it on his Mod at 3.7 and acts like a cocky jerk saying (naw, i'm not a fan of it at 3.7. let me try it at 6v) pops out his batteries and puts in a stack to crank his volts to 6v and goes (yep, tastes better at 6v) and i'm just sitting there in utter jealousy that i can't do that.

Also, there are variable voltage mods out there that you can simply push a button and it changes the voltage without having to change the batteries.

Bro, if you are REALLY all in on the change (And believe me, within weeks just like dormouse said, you will prefer vaping or smoking) get a mod right off the bat. You'll be happy you did it. I bought a reg 510 kit for 60.00 and a ego kit for 70.00 and though they got me off smoking (which i can't thank either of them enough) i'd kill to be able to refund them and get myself a big nasty mod LOL.

Now, that being said. before you make such a high quality purchase, sit on the forums and ask about MODS from the veterans who have them and go on youtube and watch reviews of the ones they recommend. Do your research on which one you'd prefer because there are TONS of them out there.

Silver bullet is a really high quality one
The black beauty is one also
GLV makes awesome ones
Provapes makes a great product
The big rig one everyone knows by is the Chuck (thagbuilt.com i think it is)

Look into box mods also (simply look up e cig box mods in google)
The helix is coming out soon by cisco and that's one i'm sorta waiting on.
The joker is another one (pretty awesome design)

The important thing is battery life and durability aswell as voltage.

Good luck man. If you get the bug like i did (The vaping bug. You fall inlove with the community and the hobby) you'll be in for a treat.

There are podcasts that i'd recommend listening to also that will totally blow your mind the info you get. The one is listen to alot is vaporcast (i've listen to the first year in less than 2 weeks times and i'm blown away by that cast of people)

I'm excited for you man!! that's awesome!!

Also, for work (if your HR department allows it) i'd recommend getting a passthru to plug into your computer. It's cheap and simply. 16.00 item that is a great buy for someone who infront of a computer all the time. I'd recommend the 5v one over the 3.7 (5v is my sweet spot. that's just me)

From all research, nicotine is really one of the safest parts of a cigarette (which is ironic because it's the thing that keeps you on such a dangerous habit) But, essentially all it does is raise your heart rate. I've been smoke free for nearly 3 weeks and my lungs are clear and I have a hell of alot more energy. I feel 100% more healthy than i did. If that's not a testament i'm not sure what is.

That being said, there are articles about what is in eliquid and that will give you a better idea. Your not inhaling around 500 carsinagins (which is what causes cancer) like you were and from all studies, nicotine in smoke does not cause cancer. Smoke causes cancer.

I'd recommend contacting the NVC and ask for their input on recent studies from doctors. from what i'm hearing, at alot of the vape meets in the north aswell as vapefest, there are doctors doing chemical readings around the vaporers to test the air quality for health reasons (and it's been quite optimistic)

None the less, your moving to a product that will help you feel better. Keep in mind, your going to be using something that people with ashma use to be able to breathe better. People with glaucoma in california that are prescribed marajuana for medicinal use are required to use the marajuana through a vaporizer because it's healthier.

Keep in mind, i've only been involved in the community for 2 and a half weeks and already i have alot of info. Dig down and research all this on your own, you'll be amazed at how quickly you get the answers you want without even asking.

This is my first real day actually interacting on any e cig forum. I haven't asked anyone any questions. just found that answers myself.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask questions. That just means you should always always do research on everything before making a decision on anything.

I did and I can't thank the vaping community enough for everything that has happened to me over the last 2 1/2 weeks.

Thanks soooooooo Much! I'm excited.. Ok.. I think I'm going to go with the eGo to start.. Seems like a good intro, and I could always sell it to a friend if I decide to upgrade.. The starter kit includes this:

2 x manual eGo 650mAh batteries
2 x Joye 510 atomizer
2 x Atomizer Cone
5 x tobacco cartridges
1 x high speed USB charger
1 x usb mains charger
1 x user manual
1 x presenation box

What else should I include with my order? I'm a bit lost. :)
