I have been lurking on these forums for some time and trying to decide if I wanted to go this route to attempt to quit my 25 year habit of chewing. After a lot of reading and not really being able to decide what to start with I just went to the local B&M store and bought a lavatube 2.5 starter kit. So far I'm happy with my choice but was wondering if I should buy a spare tank from them to start out with or go buy a different type of tank as a backup. A friend at work that I only see once a week told me I would be happy with the lavatube but would want a different tank and I'm not even sure where to start looking for other tanks. I have cut back a great amount on my chewing in just a few days and don't want to have a relapse due to my coil burning out or tank cracking. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum Joel. Glad to have you here!:)

I love the Aspire Nautilus with the new BVC's (bottom vertical coils). I put it on my iStick which goes up to 15-20 watts depending on the resistance of my coil.

Hey susan can you please take a look at my thread? :) - regarding iStick

I was a 15 year smoker and quit 3 months ago because of vaping. Now I'm building coils and chasing clouds and I couldn't be happier, I'm addicted to a healthy habit and couldn't quit without the satisfaction I get from vaping.

Just be prepared to cough badly the first few weeks and I skip the starter kits and start with something with vv/vw right away because you will get one soon enough.

Welcome Joel!

Lavatube is a nice first rig :) I started with the Magma cigalikes, went to an Inferno, and then jumped over to VV3s and MVPs. Regarding tanks, Frenchfry indicates a "510" connection. MANY toppers are 510 threaded, so you will have quite the options. And, if you want to try something that isn't 510-threaded, there are adapters you can get.

I'm guessing you got the BCT tank? You can use clearomizers (glass or plastic tank with top or bottom coils), cartomizers (the coil and wicking material is embedded in a relatively thin tube that looks a lot like the filter end of a cigarette) or carto-tanks (the whole carto sits in a tank so you can have more volume of liquid) or rebuildables (RBA/RDA/RTA). I think the Lavatube has a lower-end and won't fire a coil below about 1 Ohm. It's pretty happy in the 1.5-2.5 Ohm range.

You probably should get at least one more tank as a backup. Just watch what you get because you'll likely need different coils than what comes with your Lavatube's tank. I'm pretty happy with the Kanger Protank 2 (with an additional airflow controller base.) I also have a couple of Aspire Nautilus tanks.

You probably ought to consider a backup device as well. Nothing sucks more than to run out of battery or to have a hardware malfunction and not have an alternative at hand.....

If you've been lurking the forums for awhile, I hope you wandered through some of Baditude's blogs: E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs. Lots of great info for newcomers.

Enjoy the vape :vapor:
