also thinking about this
510 U-DCTank Combo
it has a 6ml tank but it uses cartridge cartomizers and it locks them into place

but the protanks use a coil head

so what is better in terms of lasting longer and better hits using a normal cartridge cartomizer or using the coil heads in the protank series.

cartridges are use and toss.
Atomizers for clearos are use and maybe toss; you can clean them, or rewick them; or maybe even recoil them if you got good eyes.

cartomizers also use a filler stuff material inside that acts like a big fat wick; the taste of the carto is going to depend alot on this material.
The great thing about cartos is that it boils down to having a standard atomizer that will work with different manufacturer tanks; and if you don't like one manufacturers carto you can just buy another brand.

You can find lots of videos on rebuilding clearo coil heads

a miniprotank2 is an excellent start; eGo thread; decent airflow; easy to find coils; can be rebuild if you are interested; can change driptip.

I'd consider a carto system to be somewhat of an upgrade of the standard clearo; but you have to know how to prime the carto; you have to be prepared to keep buying replacement cartos; you'll probably be needing some tools that make cartos convenient to change etc; having said all that, I do not actually use cartos myself; to rebuild a carto, you'd need a special atomizer called the Sophia; the only example of a rebuildable atomizer designed to fit in a carto tank.

so does that mean the coil heads used in the protank series are better than the cartridges used in regular tanks? also great video i think i will get the protank 2 and the dct tank both and see which one i like better then i might eventually get the aero tank and give it a try. go homework to do for classes tomorrow so i am off for the night.

The protanks use a head that is similar to several other tanks; there are some variations; some don't fit exactly or you have to know how to fit them; the protanks are also glass; these two factors make them a popular workhorse starter tank.
I'd say the protank types are becoming the regular tank.

The cartridge/cartomizer is a thing the size and shape of a cigarette filter; they screw on to the standard 510 thread; and prefilled cartomizers would be bought and screwed onto a battery and just used alot like a cigarette; but when the liquid got used up, they would start to taste burnt; the upgrade from that is the black carto with holes punched in them an no liquid inside, which then goes in to a carto tank; you put the liquid in the tank and the liquid gets into the carto; that way you don't keep throwing away perfectly good carto's all the time.

One type isn't really better than the other; alot of people use both; some people are going to have preferences;

Dripping the juice directly onto the atomizer coil/wick to vape. You get 2-4 hits and then drip again. Just search dripping atomizer. Lots to choose from.

I disagree with the 2-4 hits then drip again. I use the following IGO's F, L, and W, the nimbus (gold), and the Forge. When I build my coils, i run cotton wick through them then make a small bed of cotton beneath and touching the bottom of the coil. I get up to 15 drops in all of them. A fill typically lasts me 30 to 45 minutes of chain vaping. Since the air holes are in on the side, lined up directly in front of the coil(s), airflow isn't an issue with the little bed of cotton.

Kind of like a make-your-own carto in a way! You got your coil, and your big wad of absorbent material; soak it with eliquid, and vape away; and you got your needlebottle of liquid you can add maybe a 1ml at a time or so I guess? 15 drops sounds like around a mililitre I think.

WHERE IS A SITE THAT I CAN BUY ONE OF THE RUSSIAN 91% they look cool. :)

By the way, there is the Russian 91%, but there is also the Russian. I guess that would be the Russian 100% ?
And just a few weeks ago, I saw a video (Rip Tripper) of a BIG Russian; I guess that would be the Russian 200% ?

Fasttech, focalecig, and eBay. Then a million different online vape shops carry em but cost more, usually. These are all clone, of course. I've see authentic Russian 91% on eBay for like 199$. If you trust them actually being authentic.

I started on simple ce4s, then moved to an evod, mini protank2, Aro pyrex, aspire and vivi nova. THen I bought my first Ego-L, it took me a few builds to get it right and a guy sat down and showed me how to make a micro coil correctly. The first good coil I built, I was really surprised at the vape. The next few were increasingly better and then all of a sudden I built a perfect one. I was hooked and haven't picked up a clearo since then. There is just nothing like it at all. Now I am building dual coil .3 ohm lung busters and I love it. If you start building coils read a lot on battery safety there is a ton of info in the blogs section from a guy named Baditude. there is a few tools you would need before you build your first coil after that it is super cheap and fun to do. It does not take any more time than fiddling with tanks. I also put a little bed of cotton under my wicks and I can get 20-25 hits before redripping.

Alright here is some pics of my IGO-L on my ProVari with a 1.7 ohm micro coil. Wicked with cotton and with cotton bed beneath the coil.

When are you going to Reoville?

All this is really a hobby for me. From collecting, building and just plain tinkering. At this point there isn't much I can't build. After you learned it and really got it, it's really pretty easy. Cheap too. Typically you can get 100 foot of wire from eBay for 7-10 $. I use cotton balls from the drug store for wick material.
