Hi
I have bought a hoxton v2 as my first e cig....know barely anything about it at all. Well nothing really keep seeing all this stuff about different coils and things and have absolutely no idea what people are on about I just set my e cig up and started using it. Anyone got any advice? Such as changing flavours etc.

Thanks

Welcome. I would say search around here for other peoples experiences and see if anything resonates with you. Ask questions. And experiment with different things (mods, tanks, flavors) till you find something that works for you. For myself, I've been trying many different things and am starting to hone in on factors I like. Fortunately we have a lot of options. Unfortunately we have a lot of options... ;)

Hi and welcome. Your Hoxton is a privately branded eGo style rig, using a clearomizer (the tank part on top) with replaceable dual coils. The coils are wear parts and will eventually either stop working or burn from the heat and taste foul, so they will have to be then replaced. Your battery will fit any eGo threaded clearo-- there are tons of them, and most of them are better than what you now have-- but is not powerful enough to safely drive any coil below 1.6 ohms. In general, the lower the ohms, the more and warmer the vapor is produced. Lower coils also burn more juice per puff.

Changing flavors is easy. You can just put the new flavor in the tanks and vape away. The taste will be "interesting" for the first few hits, but the new flavor will eventually overwhelm the old one (except in the case of very strong flavors like menthols or cinnamon or something) and you'll be vaping on the new one. Or, you can disassemble the tank and wash it clean in hot soapy water. The tank must be completely dry before re-use. Don't wash the coil like that, remove it from the base first if you intend to reuse it. To clean a coil, soak it overnight in pure grain alcohol or high proof vodka, then rinse well in hot water. It must be completely dry before reuse; let it air dry overnight on a paper towel, or they can be force dried with a hair dryer. Even after cleaning, the coil will probably retain some of the old flavor. Therefore you can re-use it and put up with it for a few hits, or you can put in a new coil. Some people will keep several coils and change them as they change flavors, washing the tank each time.

Hi @Tashabloomer96

Welcome to ECF. :)

Are you in the UK?

I found a 'link' for Hoxton version 2. (I can't write vee 2 as that creates a link to vee 2 e-cigarettes, which is not exactly something I would like to happen).

It's an H2 clearomiser. (GS-H2). I know a bit about them.

and your battery?
Hi yeah I'm in the UK got it from a e cig website think it was a UK based one

Like I said that means nothing to me haha all I know is I seem to be using it a lot more than I used to smoke. Got 4 different flavours and two clearomizers for now just don't want to go through he liquids so fast with how much I'm smoking it

Hi again.
When you try to switch from smoking to vaping*, it's very likely you will feel the need to vape a lot. It depends on your equipment and the strength of the liquid.

How much do/did you smoke?
Does your e-liquid have a strength on the bottle (12mg, 18mg?)

We're going to help you if we can; that's why we're here. :)

*The word 'smoking' is not used in the e-cigarette community. Vaping is the correct term.

I have two 18mg one Brighton rock the other cappuccino then I have two 12mg a bubble gum and caramel tobacco. I used to smoke between 10-15 a day depending on if I'm at work or not as I work for the NHS so don't get many breaks (if any). Hence one of the reasons I started vaping means I can just stay in staff room and don't have to go outdoors

Hello and welcome to the forum @Tashabloomer96. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Tasha no offense or disrespect intended I just get annoyed when people refer to my Vaping as Smoking so I only wanted to stress the point you are NOT Smoking. I hate to hear "Oh so you gave up cigarettes to smoke that now?" And I have to say I am not smoking!
Yeah I realised that have had several comments on it....as I said I'm new and didn't know the offence it could cause

Nice... not going outdoors. :)

18mg is a solid choice with entry-level kit. You have got an 'eGo' type e-cigarette and they are much better than the plastic cigarette look-a-like (cig-a-like) ones.

Have you seen the NHS' recent guide to e-cigarettes? It's very positive about their potential.
