Vaping is entirely different from smoking, although the two do share some similarities. Vaping may require a different inhalation technique than you used when smoking. No direct lung hits; slow draws of 3 - 6 seconds in length into the mouth; much like sucking on a straw in a thick milkshake. Exhale some of the vapor through your nose; your nose can assist your damaged taste buds to appreciate the flavor in your vapor.

If you sincerely want to stay off of the smokes, have a backup for everything. Batteries, charger, juice delivery devices, and e-liquid. Don't give yourself a reason to run to the corner store to buy a pack because you forgot to put the battery on the charger or you ran out of juice.

Vaping is work. Smoking was easy. Just light it up and go. With vaping you need all of the above to be working. This takes some organization skills and planning ahead. Figure on consuming 3 - 6 ml of e-liquid a day. Juice delivery devices are disposable, and will only last 1 - 3 weeks on average, so have plenty. These JDD's often stop working for no reason, so have more on hand.

It is not necessary to inhale the vapor to absorb the nicotine. Different sized molecules and absorbed in the mouth and nose, not the lungs like cig smoke. It's not uncommon for new vapors to cough with vapor; this should pass with time. Keep the throat moist (drink water).

Your taste buds have been damaged from years of smoking, so your sense of taste is off. Your e-juice flavors might appear to be muted at first. This will pass as your taste buds heal. Even after they heal, you can get "vapor's tongue" at any point in time where you just can not taste your e-flavors. This too shall pass, just deal with it.

Finding e-flavors that you like may be a long process, but is as important as finding the right starter setup in gear. Instead of wasting money on flavors that you don't like, find out if there are any vape shops in your area that have a juice tasting station. Sample before you buy. If not, many e-liquid vendors sell sampler packs; after you find a winner, buy in a larger size next time.

You will not find an e-juice flavor that "tastes like a cigarette". It's impossible to create a taste of burning tobacco leaves and smoke. Focus on finding another flavor that you will like.

Taste of flavors and choice in gear is extremely subjective. What one person likes another will not. The only way that you will find out what YOU like is to sample them yourself.

You Tube and ECF Forum are excellent places to learn from. Do specific searches on what you wish to learn.

Buy the best equipment you can afford. The bigger the battery, the better your vape experience will be. The cigarette size batteries have their place in the stages of vaping. Few continue to use them as their primary battery device. As soon as you can get over the "must look like a cigarette" stage, advance to an eGo setup or a mod.

DO NOT SKIMP BY BUYING CHEAP BATTERIES OR CHARGERS when you advance up to mods. Know which batteries to use and how to use them safely. The batteries that we use in mods were not designed for e-cig use and sometimes we can push them over their intended limits. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html
