Here's my problem.......I have been vaping for a month. I still smoke a little less than a pack a day.

When I vape I get a buzz off of 12-14 mg nic. The other day I actually got so dehydrated I had to sit down and chug 24 ounces of water and eat a banana. Less nic and I crave analogs badly.

I was wondering if anyone has used the patch and 0 nic vape to quit?

Please help......I really want to give up the analogs and I do like vaping quite a bit.

Vaping does dry you out so you need to drink more water. I have a 20 oz bottle with me all the time. I just keep refilling it with filtered tap water. If you drink alcohol at all this is doubly true. It's not the nicotine that dries you out it's the PG/VG so vaping 0 nic and wearing a patch probably won't change anything (can't say for sure I've never tried it).

I smoked 3 PAD, Kools, and I wasn't able to put my PV down at all until I went to 36 mg. At the end of my first month, i was down to just under a pack a day. It took me 3+ months to quit smoking. I just tried to vape more and smoke less. I'm not even exactly sure what day I quit. I'm not saying you need more nic, but like Hoosier said: it's the PG and/or VG that dries you out.

Also, try some different base than you've been using. Some people are sensitive to PG or VG. If you've been vaping PG, try VG, or the other way around.

When I got my first 510 ecig, I ripped it open, and started vaping, and whoa, I got a buzz like I hadnt had in 30 years. My temples went numb, I almost had to sit it out for a bit. Wow, so, I tried it again the next day, after my morning smoke, the last one Ive had since then. My 6 volt mod came in that day and I was good to vape. I rationalized the natural tobacco and the vaped nicotine seemed to accentuate the buzz considerably. Thats what I told myself, and I have been very happy with vaping with out the tobacco since. 24 mg, 5 ml or more a day at 6 plus volts.

I agree with hoosier.

I also smoked about 1/2 a pack a day after I started vaping. Went to 36 mg and , finally,
an eGo with LR atty and still haven't quit ! But down to 2 cigs a day.

I think I need the high nicotine. I don't think nicotine drys you out. The PG is well known to do that.

Just keep at it and don't expect miracles and you can make progress !

Good luck !

It would be a little more helpful if you let us know how many real cigs you used to smoke before starting with e-cigs. And, how many years you smoked.

I smoked about 30 real cigs a day, pack & half, 40+ years. I started out with 16mg, that didn't cut it, moved up to 24mg, that did the trick. BUT, you must drink more water. PG/VG will dry your mouth. PG will also give you a sore throat. I use a mixture of PG & VG. Now, after over a year, I've trimmed the mg to 8 to 12 mg.

More stressful times, I up it to about 18mg, can't seem to do 24mg without getting a buzz. That's because during stressful times you are hitting that e-cig a lot more.

Keep working with it, it will come to you. Every vape taken is a smoke not taken.

Also, don't crack up if you have a real cig, just knowing you have and are cutting down will help you get to the point you desire. :toast:

I smoked about 1-1/2 packs a day and have been smoking for 40 years. On the days I vape, I smoke a little less than a pack a day.......maybe 15 instead of 20 or 30.

I guess my real concerns are vaping even low nic makes me high (buzzed up), higher nic makes me cough like crazy...I just dont like the throat hit. I just ordered a bunch of all vg flavors at 0 nic and will see how that does. I think for right now Im gonna try the patch and vaping.

Im starting to think this might be allergies too. I have not vaped today, just smoked my regular analogs and I am feeling light headed.

Im stumped. Dont know what to do but I truely believe that vaping will help me quit one day.

To me, it does not sound like vaping is causing your problem, since you haven't vaped just smoked the real cigs today. There may be some other thing going on related to health. Been to the DR. lately? Just checking... If it keeps up, I think a check-up might be in order.

Yeah I am starting to think that too. Last July, I went into the hospital for 5 days because I had the same woozy feeling. 5 days and they never did find anything wrong even tho I had every heart, lung, test known to man (or it felt like it). When I got out and went to my PCP he looked at all the tests results and told me I had allergies.

This just dawned on me today. And in Tucson, this is the monsoon season and lots of people including myself are suffering with some form of allergy to the pollen and dust in the air.

sheese why didnt I think of that earlier. Just saw the doctor right before I started vaping too.

I am not gonna let this beat me. I am gonna keep plugging away until it works gomdangit!

Those were my thoughts as I read through this thread. Light-headedness as a consequence of vaping--regardless of the rated strength of the e-juice--doesn't seem to add up, considering you were a moderate-to-heavy smoker for decades.

Just out of curiousity, what make & model of PV are you using? And what make & variety of e-juice?

Is it possible that vaping is a bit more of a shock to the body than one might think? The habit of smoking supports an addiction to the delivery system of nicotene. Which unfortunately delivers the deadly tars and carcinegens. All of this for a very long time. The body takes it all in and has dealt with it to some amazement. Now you think you want to change all that, and vape. This might create these headaches, since your whole body has been dealing with it all this time. Every part of me wanted a smoke right now! I gave it nicotene instead untill the freak cig need went away. "Whats the difference I have nicotene?" This went on for a long time, 2 PAD doesnt just go away. I told myself "I dont smoke any more, I vape." and I vaped.
I Played with my vaporizers, my juice, batteries. Any thing other than grab my lighter and ashtray. The other "cig" thoughts went away in a couple weeks. I do vape now, I dont miss my ashes, or zippo, or cigs.
I vape now, My vaporizer looks nothing like a cig. The juice I vape is great, cinnamon, watermelon, whatever, how cool.

I must agree with you. Vaping is a whole different experience that takes some getting used to. I am finally off the analogs, vaping mostly vg 0 nic juice. I am using the patch, and still need to vape a little bit of low level nic juice to fight back strong cravings.

I truely believe that the body reacts differently to vaping than smoking. And the transition and learning curve can be different for many folks. I kinda wish I was one of the ones who picked up the PV and put down the analogs immediatly, but since Im not, I am tremedously glad I finally found a combo that works for me.

PS Now I am on a mission to find the perfect PV, (feminine, sexy, powerful and sophisticated but NOT PINK!)
