Hey Guys,

I’m in the market for a nice high / mid range tube mech. I’m mostly looking at Purge mods at the moment.

The one I have my eye on is the new Slam Piece Slugger. It’s all black on the outside. But I can choose to buy Black / Brass or Black / Copper (I’m assuming the tube is cerakoted on the outside, and the actual tube will be either made of brass of copper depending on which one I choose.

Ive read a post by Mooch saying that there is no difference in performance / voltage drop between Brass and Copper. And it just depends on things like the contacts, components, threading etc.

So my question is are there any benefits to Brass or Copper? Or is it just a personal preference / Aesthetic thing?

Do they weight they same? Ive heard copper is softer than brass? So that might be a con.

Any experts / collectors please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

just a thought.....look at Florida Vapor supply. they are going out of business. i just got 3 (Stacked or single) mods for for about $300! the copper Lykan (side fire) carbon fiber sleeve hits like i boss! the build quality is impeccable and customer service is fantastic. they are almost giving away all the accessories and clothing. i own a pretty good collection of mech mods and they are the best bargain right now. sorry i got carried away with my my shameless love of immortal modz.... i have never (in 8 years mech mod use) experienced a problem with copper over brass. both require a lot of maintenance if you want them shiny. be gentle with the threading and they will last equally long (in my experience) if i was to recommend based on experience i would get a coated (cerikote) coper mod. i am now into silver plated and solid silver mods which require minimal maintenance and hit just little harder than copper. just depends on the depth of you pocket :) . best of luck with this rabbit hole:)

I have the brass stacked and just bought a copper one. The brass is one of my favorite mods ever.
The only difference to me is copper smells like pennies. If that doesn’t bother you, get whichever you prefer.

i have both. i got the elite black copper and i don't notice any difference in the odor opposed to the brass. i also got my first Siege (silver plated) and it is my favorite right now. for some reason it looks better with the murdered out Elite V2 (28.5 MM) than the similar 25MM Apocalypse which is a surprise considering its small form factor although both look great. its a real shame this is the end of these mods. i just bought a ton of every part i could ever think of using and shirts/hats and build mats ETC . if someone is giving it away i'll take it! the end of an era i guess.

Thanks for the replies guys. I ended up getting the brass (Black cerakoted on the outside) Purge Slugger.

Now I have a totally different question lol.

I did a build of 0.13 with some Coilturd Aliens on my Asgard mini and threw it on top of the mod with a Samsung 30T battery. All i can say is DAMN it hits like a truck! I only took 4-5 chain hits and i was dizzy lol. I use 3MG and have NEVER had this issue. I have used other mechs like the Clutch X18 Parallel 18650 mod (with a 0.09 build). And for some reason this purge mod just destroys me lol.

Does anyone know why? Theoretically in my clutch parallel mod i have 2 X VTC5A’s @ 25A each = 50A. I use a 0.09 build = 196 - 152watts I’m vaping at.

Where as on the single 30T @ 35A and a build of 0.13 = 135Watts roughly.

So why does the mech tube hit so much harder? And why do i feel like 3MG is 10Mg lol?

I have several brass, copper and stainless steel mechs. I'm happy with them all. I don't have a preference for one over the other.

Keep your mech mods clean (contacts, threads, body) and they will reward you for many years to come. My mechs will outlast me, lol.

Mechs hit harder because there is no wiring or electronics in the electrical path. It's just a button, tube (or enclosure as in the Clutch), battery(s) and RBA.
