I love the CE2 Clearomizers but the first 3 to 4 or more fills have a burnt taste and just when I'm ready to throw it out it starts working perfectly. I've tried letting them sit full for 24 hours but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Is there a way to speed up the break-in on these?

In my experience CE2's do not need to be broken in, but they may need some prepping before use. The burnt taste indicates poor wicking. Try removing the cup seal and see if you still get the burnt taste. If you don't, the the cup seal is pinching the wicks too much and juice has a hard time reaching the coil. You can cut the wick openings in the seal larger to allow more room for the wicks. If your clearos have a thin middle seal, you can just use it instead of the cup seal. Just insert it on top of the ceramic cup with the grooved side down and throw away the cup seal.

If you still experience burnt taste after removing the seal, try washing the wick in distilled water and dry burning to remove any primer that may be on the wick.

Good luck...

I do enlarge the wick openings and once they get working well the taste never comes back so it definitely could be primer. I will try washing and dry burning the wick on a new one and remove the bottom seal.

What is your recommendation on removing buildup from the coil? I'm thinking of getting a small ultra sonic cleaner.

Many thanks.

Here's the way I clean my CE2:

- remove the seal and the tube.
- wash/rinse the wick in distilled water then dry by patting the wicks with a paper towel.
- dry burn the coil (5 sec on, 5 sec off) until there is no more smoke coming from it and it looks clean. If I have a lot of build up I may use a toothbrush after some dry-burning.
- rinse the coil by squirting some distilled water from a syringe
- let sit overnight to dry, re-assemble, fill and vape.

I find that this will remove all build up from the coil and I have never used an ultrasonic cleaner, but it may work. If you ever get the ultrasonic cleaner I'd like to hear the results.

I wasn't sure if the coil was tough enough to stand brushing so I didn't try that. I will now. Gently

I might as well ask all the questions I can while I'm here. How long do you get CE2's to last? I assume it is the coil that dies first?

Do you Dry Burn your CE2's Before you use them for the First Time?

Next time your at the Drug Store you might pick up a Pack of Dentek Brushes.

They work Great for getting Under the Coil/Wick. I dip the Brush in a Drop of Vodka and give the Wick/Coil a Quik Swabbing at Every Refill. Greatly Extends the time between Dry Burns.

Just makes sure that the Coil is Not Hot when you do your Cleaning with them.

Great tip. Thanks...

Thanks for reminding me. We have some of those brushes around (some are shaped like a Christmas tree) somewhere and a handle.

Yeah, they work Great.

I vape Sickly Sweet Dark Brown High VG e-Liquids. I can gunk up a Wick/Coil in 2 Refills of an XL CE2. I used to have to Clean and Dry Burn Constanly.

The I saw these Brushes at the Store and Tried them. I can now get about 6 or 7 Refills before Cleaning/Dry Burning.

I use CE2 all the time and have never had that burned taste right off the bat -- in fact its absolutely beautiful right off the bat lol. I take out all the rubber junk in there and fluff the wicks. then i slide the juice down the sides until it is to the bottom of the white cup. I make sure to put a few drops into the cup itself to make sure all the wicking is saturated with juice. Then i blow any excess out into a napkin, screw it on and its a wonderful thing!

When I first open a new CE2, the first thing I do is take it apart. I remove the stock plastic tube and replace it with a cut 3ml syringe tube that is a bit longer than the original tube. Then I put the rubber cap back down onto the coil cap, but I leave a gap in the top to allow for better wicking rather than pushing it down flush with the cap.

Then I take my syringe and fill the CE2. Before putting the other caps back on, I drop 2 or 3 drops directly onto the coil. Then I test the vape to make sure that I don't get any immediate dry hits, if I do, I pull the bottom rubber cap up a bit more.

This setup keeps mine working for a good long time depending on what liquid I use.

I haven't used a CE2 since I got the Stardusts though lol. I much prefer just filling directly from the bottle and vaping. :D

Some I do and most I don't and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

It's not a Bad Idea to give a New CE2 a Quick 3 Second Dry Burn when they are New. The Quality has gotten Much Better but I still get a "Smoker" every now and again.

If I do get more than a Wisp of Smoke coming off the Wick, that CE2 gets a Hot Water Rinse/Dry.

I use a Single Mouth Piece Mod on my CE2's. I find them to be a Extremely Easy to fill useing an the Eye Dropper that comes on my Boston Glass Bottles.

When I open a new CE2, I remove the mouthpiece, and the two neoprene parts inside. I pull the tube off, and install one of the conversion cup seals Gotvapes was selling a few months ago, on the cup. I then reverse the tube end for end, and push the tube back onto the base. The reason for reversing the tube is because a drip tip will fit easier into the end that was pushed on the base at the factory. I'm hoping Gotvapes restocks the conversions soon.
