Does anyone else have this with vaping.

I was a smoker for 43 years and have now moved to vaping. I initially brought Vapourlites but the liquid was so harsh I coughed more than when I smoked, but then I tried the Socialites Liquid which is mainly vegetable glycerin and is a much milder vape. I am finding now though that I seem to be more breathless than when I was smoking. When I was smoking and got bronchitis, I could hardly get upstairs without huffing and puffing, but that ended when I started vaping, however, now 53 days down the vaping route, the breathlessness has come back. My only issue with the vapes is that I seem to be puffing on it frequently during the day and having one or two puffs, then maybe 10 minutes later another one or two puffs until I eventually feel dizzy and wheezy. I'm only on 0.6mg nicotine which is the lowest before 0mg.

I think that may be because you smoked for 43 years, there's no way you can erase that, the only thing is vaping will stop things like OCD from progressing. Well, in fact I do get total breathlessness attacks on occasion (horrible), but I think it must be some kind of allergy and since I'm not allergic to any of those things they search in allergy tests (I once took one), I may well wait my entire life to find out what the heck causes it...

High VG does that to me, and a lot of other people. I've found a happy medium with 50/50 liquid.

High VG makes me feel like I can't take a full breath. Like something heavy is sitting on my chest. Not painful just very uncomfortable. Might want to try some different liquid make ups.

Not just me then. I did wonder that after 43 years it is very probable that the damage is already done, but the fact that I am no longer smoking the 600 odd other chemicals that go into cigarettes means I may live a bit longer. The Socialites juice is VG and I have heard that some people do suffer from breathlessness with this one but as I said, I am only on 0.6mg and soon to start watering it down. The feeling I get is a heavy feeling, like ckquatt. Not pain, uncomfortable. I have spoken to my doc about it and had blood tests which showed that I had a mild infection, but after antibiotics I still have this feeling.

I have asthma and in recent years due to smoking now have COPD. Too much PG and i cough a lot and my lungs hurt..too much VG and like another poster stated so well i get heaviness and like you short of breath. Experiment and find a balance between VG and PG that agrees with you. If you use flavorings you may find some you just can't tolerate well and is adding to the problem. In my case i found if i was chain vaping too much the flavoring, regardless of what it was, would irritate my lungs so i now vape unflavored 60pg/40vg and found my perfect balance. If you are recovering from a respiratory infection i would stay away from flavorings and avoid high VG.
Just my two cents...Happy Holidays!!

I ended up using all VG, PG didn't agree with me. For some people it's the other way round. Some people can do either without problems. Sounds like you got that part figured out.

You might consider upping the nic a little. You are only a couple of months into quitting after smoking for a long time. You probably need a certain amount of nic. Using such a low concentration you are going to have to vape a lot to get what you need.

One other thing. The recovery curve from smoking varies widely between people. Someone who knows more might chime in, but from what I've read here, after less than 2 months it wouldn't be unusual for the effects of quitting to still be working through your system.

High vg does that to me as well, even at 50/50. After a while even 70pg/30vg was making me a little wheezy, now I'm doing 85pg/15 VG now and its way better for me. Anyone short of breath or wheezing or tight chest should try dropping their VG significantly that's some sticky stuff. Others have a sensitivity to PG and do better with high VG. Find what's best for you. My breathing is way better now than when I was smoking.

I will add that my all day vape is Nude Nicotine unflavored base, 18 to 24 mg, it's smoother than other nicotine bases I've tried. I mix it at 85pg/15vg as noted above and vape around 2 ml a day. In another tank I have some 50/50 or 70pg/30vg lightly flavored or a small amount of natural tobacco extract that I vape for flavor and Nic but don't inhale it except a puff now and then. This is really the best I've done breathing wise since I started vaping. With cigarettes I woke every morning congested and coughing, not now. I have Copd and two weeks after I quit smoking and started vaping my lung function improved 5%. I will have another test soon and it will be interesting to see the results after 14 months of vaping. My O2 level stays at 98 to 99% these days (99 is as high as my meter goes).

Nice to see people offering up answers to your condition..............

.............What has your Doctor said?

Have you considered a combination of things affecting the condition.

Years of Smoking - onset COPD
Over indulgence
Lifestyle change with age
Physiological change from aging

Vaping (Seems) relatively less harmful than Smoking, however it is no Miracle cure to an abused body.

Was it you that posted this same topic just a few weeks ago?
I seem to remember it being from member from France:confused:

* 62yrs old
Over vape often
Occasionally experience shortness of breath.

Reduced Vaping activity, coupled with increased physical activity seems to correct the situation within 30 minutes.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you.

To much PG and and I'm coughing my head off. I would, and in fact did for several years, choose smoking over PG joose.

So like you I switched to all VG joose. And my breathing got tight.

So I ended up at 70/30 VG/Pg and things are pretty good. The taste isn't as good of coarse because of the PG harshness but its ok. And the coughing is much better the 50/50 high PG joose. Worst then all VG but manageable. The tight breathing is gone.

If you're talking to me. No I didn't post that.
Update: I see now you were talking to the OP. You're right to suggest a doctors opinion. It doesn't take a rocket scientist however to see that the OP states he had breathlessness after starting vaping a VG juice and should therefore be made aware that some others here have the same problem with high VG. If the doctor isn't informed about vaping, he might not be able to offer that information.

I was/am addressing Op

Unknowns will bring forth a variety of suggestions and possible solutions.

Exact equipment used and usage/condition
Tank type/Coil resistance/power applied
E-liquid consumption - ml/day
Brand/Type/nic of E-liquid
Flavoring %
PV/VG%
* Experience with Other E-liquids, including Data(possible allergic reactions)

There is thus far a wealth of unknown information which could be relied upon to offer more reliable answers.:)

Comparatively

Op
Smoked over 40 yrs.
Vaping 53 days
Most other data unknown(To forum)

Me
Smoked over 40 yrs.
Vaping over 3 yrs
Most other data unknown(to forum)

Can one even begin to Compare and Advise either of us based on a single complaint and minimal information? Are we that much alike..........or even similar, beyond:
1 - ex-smoker
2 - now Vaper

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
Im another one that gets really congested from high VG juice. Too much of it and I get that heavy lung, hard to breath feeling. I only use 50-50 about once a week and not for long, just to vape some sweet flavors when the tobaccos are getting passe, to kind of clean out my taste buds so to say. PG can seem kind of harsh until you get used to it, I know it was that way with tobacco, and it was that way when I first started vaping. But once my technique (inhale) started getting used to it is did`nt last very long. Seems to be the same with most new vapers, the harshness. Its something you have to work through with getting used to and your inhale technique.

BOL.
