I actually tried vaping to see if it would help me cut down on the PAD+ that seemed to be just increasing since I retired. I smoked for 46 years and did not have any intention of quitting - because I thought I actually "liked" smoking  I started with a Colibri mini cig-a-like and was actually down to 3 cigarettes a day. I then found ECF and spent a good week reading.

Discovered that there was a lot more out there and finally ordered two eGo Twists, some CE4s, a Vivi Nova and some cartomizers along with some higher nic juice. The day my twists arrived I realized that the vaping was way more enjoyable than smoking and I just quit. I had a few in Vegas in Feb that did not taste good at all and just helped me realize that I am really done smoking.

So glad I found ECF and the better devices - since I am sure that I would have given up if I had not found something that was actually better than what I had started with. I started at 18mg nic and I am now down to 10mg and will probably continue to decrease - but no plan to actually quit vaping or even go 0 nic. I will just see how low I can go without having any issues and if it does end up at 0 that is ok too.

I also wanted to quit but hated because I couldn't. After driving by a local vape shop they opened near me for 3-4 months I finally stopped in. I had tried the Blu starter kit but it really didn't satify me. I kept making excuses to not stop and check it out. The place was always busy and I had to go in to see what it was all about. I'll say I was suprised. After trying an ego twist they handed me to try the juice bar I was hooked. After getting a couple twists, some Kanger T3s and 3 bottles of juice I went home and put the smokes down and haven't smoked another since. Smoking hadn't been fun for a long time but vaping has been life changing. Trying out new mods and juices has been great. Even the juices I bought and didn't like lol. I feel better, breathe better, smell better and my allergies don't bother me at all most of the time. Biggest regret was not stopping in there sooner. I started with 18mg nic and already down to 12. Even if I don't drop any further or quit vaping altogether at least I'm off the stinkies and will never have another. I have spent quite a bit on mods but it's an invesment in my health and hopefully I'll add some years to my life.

I planned on using them to quit. I'm still at the stage of having a few analogs everyday, but I look at the ones I haven't smoked, not the ones I have. So far I a haven't smoked 30 today, and with any luck I won't have smoked 30 by the time I go to bed. Will I keep vaping? Honestly don't know, but I don't plan on stopping in the foreseeable future. Maybe though. The nice thing is I will be able to make that choice in the future without feeling the same withdrawals that I would quitting the stinkies. and if I don't stop,I won't feel like a failure for doing so. Win win. :)

I started vaping as an alternative to smoking. After being a PAD smoker for the last 13 years the hacking in the morning was getting to me, the spitting was irritating me, the smell was making me stink and making me nauseous, and the wheezing was keeping me up at night/waking me up at night, physically my body was telling me enough is enough but mentally I was telling my body just one more day, one more week, one more month. Well finally one day my mind caught up to my body when I was at a tobacco store making my weekly carton purchase. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a eGo type of e-cig and asked about it, taking in as much information as I could. That day I decided I'd get the e-cig and my carton and give the e-cig a shot as well.

I Didn't realize I'd go from a PAD to less than 10 instantly. It was great, I had started to fall in love and clean smoke was the lady in my eye, but I was still smoking. So I decided I needed more flavors, if I had flavors I would have even more of an appeal to vape, so I quickly placed an order from the company that the B&M carried, and began my wheening process. From the day I brought home my first e-cig, it took my 4 weeks to go from being a PAD smoker to 3 or 4 mL a day vapor. Over the course of those 4 weeks I had my ups and downs with the analogs, but I was still vaping more than smoking. By week 3 I was down to about 3 a day and I couldn't seem to find a way to shake those 3. Then my eyes got opened to the huge vaping world thanks to this great site we all know and stalk , ECF of course, and I ordered my first APV, a Joytech eVic and was introduced to a great vendor at the same time, MOV shout out.

From there I started splitting the analogs, smoking a half and throwing it out, three times a day, I acted like they were a reward. But it wasn't until midway throughout the fourth week where I made my best decision to kick old habits. I only had one pack left unopened and half a pack in my pocket when I decided i had to make them taste disgusting, even more than they already are, so instead of throwing out the other half of the analogs, I would leave them out to get nasty and stale, just beyond wanting to actually light them up. I put myself before this torture for 2 days and on night two that last analog actually made me puke, it was there I finally knew I didn't need them anymore, not even finishing that last opened or unopened pack of analogs. I do keep them though, as a temptation I know I can get through, but one day I will probably chuck them, but for now they are stashed away deep into my now wider variety of vaping equipment.

Sorry for the extremely long post, but that's how I quit analogs, and how vaping went from a way to quit to a new way of life. In the little time I have been quit, currently week 5 no analogs at all, I have been feeling so much better, physically and mentally, and it is thanks to vaping and all the knowledge and love spread here at ECF. We all deserve a round of applause in my eyes.

As a community we should continue to challenge ourselves by not only staying off the analogs, but helping to convert analog users over to the vaping world, there are millions of them, and everyone 1 brought over is a life saved from the tortures of tobacco.

I love vaping. I love nicotine! I loved smoking. I always said, "When I'm 80 I'm gonna start smoking again." I loved it that much! What I did NOT miss was the headaches, the wheezing, the stink, the cost...etc, etc. I have been an on and off smoker for 40 years, most recently I took it up again while on vacation. After vacation (and trying to quit again) I found e-cigs which led me to this forum.

Why do I love nicotine? I like the "buzz" and the appetite suppression. I started out at 18 mg but found after vaping all day that it was too much. So now I start off my morning with 18 and transition to 12 throughout the day. Did you know that studies have shown that nicotine (not tobacco) helps depression and cognitive function?? Well, at age 60 I'm all for staving off dementia.

I may give up vaping...who knows. But I love it and don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.

i started vaping as a means to quit smoking with the thought that i would quit. Now i doubt that i will quit vaping anytime soon.
I enjoy it way to much the flavors and the smell i get the hand to mouth similar to smoking.
After 35 years as a 2pad smoker i feel much better. I was able to go to the park with my 18 month old grand son and play on the slide
and other toys with him and it was great.
My wife is trying to make the switch after she has seen the effect it has had on me.she is having a harder time with it than i did
why im not sure. i think it is a matter of finding her flavor but at least she is trying.
I tried Chantix. I didnt like the weird dreams or the anger issues i had. I never let those get bad but there were times i almost lost it
with the anger.
Now no problems i breathe better i feel better. I just got over the quitters flu a couple of weeks ago. coughing all that gunk out of my
chest was horrible.
Now it a hobby/habit that i can live with and enjoy and plan on doing so for a long time :D

Yes Champix anger is what Hubby got and irritated over little things at times not even knowing why.

Self i did get strange vivid dreams and didn't mind them, once i had a dream my dog had kittens lol

My Son took to it right away and has not had a stinky now for 3 months now :)

My Hubby it took him a bit, first 2 weeks he cut down and then off all together. End of week 3wanted to smoked got a small pack of stinkys done in a week longest a pack ever lasted him. After his last stinky he picked up his twist and another tank he liked that broke.

Now he has been vaping for a month again, and said would not be picking up the stinkys again and to date has not had one ;)

To the OP: I started vaping as an alternative to smoking. Quitting smoking was a by-product of vaping - a happy accident, if you will.

+1
i wasn't even considering quitting smoking (that i knew of). i stopped into the vapor store owned by a friend of a friend purely on a whim....was mostly killing time....
i figured "hey i'll go check it out...maybe buy something..maybe not..use it when i can't smoke"
I really thought i was going to be getting a cigalike...i had NO idea there were batteries and delivery systems let alone so many different options!!

2 hours and a million flavor tastings later i had a setup and juice..haven't smoked since

but now i have picked up a few new habits....ECF....adding juices and hardware to wish lists...or shopping carts. i certainly haven't "saved" any money quitting analogs...YET LOL

so i think it is both a new way of life and a smoking cessation tool. :)
i almost feel guilty being proud that i have quit smoking....after 30 years....(because it has been so easy/enjoyable and WAY more fun)

I started vaping to quit smoking, best decision I ever made. I had tried just about everything to quit and was no longer enjoying cigs but just couldn't put them down no matter what I tried. Took up vaping and haven't looked back. I have gone from 24 mg to 12 mg in 2 1/2 months. I will continue to lower the nic as time goes by but I don't see any reason to quit vaping at this point. I sure enjoy it, and it has kept me off the cigs since the day I picked up my first PV. It will be whatever it will be in the future. I'm not sweating weather I quit vaping because I really enjoy it and I've quit smoking PAD after about 45 years, which is a real big deal to me.

I had been smoking, on average, about 6 cigarettes per day for just over 27 years.
I never tried to quit smoking, never wanted to quit smoking, and never had any intention of quitting smoking.

My sister came into town and she was using this strange electronic cigarette thing.
She let me try it, and I knew immediately that I could switch over.

Well, my wife was always telling me how bad I smelled after having a smoke, so I thought why not give it a shot.
The rest, of course, is history.
:)

The thing is, it wasn't until I switched that I found out how much even the little bit of smoking was doing to my health.
My lung capacity has increased dramatically, and I pretty much never get sick anymore.

I guess my answer is that vaping is a new way of life.

My aunt worked at trying to talk hubby and I into trying them for a few weeks. I bought a mistic kit from walmart but after trying it on a long trip stuck in traffic due to an accident. It really didnt do the trick for me. She switched to a mall kit and then sent a tank full of juice and some batteries home for hubby and I to try for the night. Hubby hasnt had a cig since, and I only smoked for 4 days after buying the kit. I had 5 the first night, and then we decided that I could have my nighttime smoke outside when I walked the dogs (at that point, I wasnt getting the same nic fix and couldnt sleep). The next night I had 1, the following night 1, and then 1/2 the next, and the final night I lit up and realized that I could no longer tolerate the taste and immediately put it out. And havent had another since

What started out as something worth trying, became a lifesaver. I liked the feeling I got from smoking, but the guilt became overwhelming (have 2 children). I cant thank my aunt enough for leading us to the world of vaping.

At the time, I thought I enjoyed smoking and couldnt imagine successfully quitting. Now I cant ever imagine going back to smokes. vaping has become a lifestyle around here. I did drop my nic down to 18 but am content and unless the fda gives me no other choice, I dont see me giving it up any time in the foreseeable future.

My wife and I started in order to save money. We'd been renting from a friend, and month after month it seemed we came up just a little short to be able to find our own place. First-and-last month, pet deposit, security, utilities etc. etc. We sat down and went over our small budget (fixed income), and one figure jumped off the page: we were spending around $3,200 a year on cigarettes! Within just a few weeks of stopping smoking we'd set enough aside to get us over the hump and now we have a great little place of our own for the first time in 18 months. We also enjoy vaping and don't have any desire to start smoking again. It's a win-win, a no-brainer. I've become a vapevangelist and have converted half a dozen of our friends too.
