I've really been struggling with my MVP2 lately in that the resistance readings have varied from one second to the next. I have a Russian 91% at 1.8ohm but the readings I get range from 2.2 up to 6. Every time I check, I'll get a different result. I've been using my iClear the last week as my Russian 91% has been so tempermental with my MVP 2 (it'll vape fine but after a few minutes produce almost no vapor) but unfortunately the resistence for my iClear 30 has been creeping up incrementally to 3.0 ohm from 2.1 over the last few days.

Could my MVP 2 be defective? I've had it for a few months without any problems until I bought a Russian 91 last week

What you're describing is the opposite of a short. Sounds to me like your center pin is pushed down and you're just barely making contact. Try gently prying up the pin on your MVP with a small screw driver. It doesn't have to come up much. You should only tighten your tanks until you feel a slight resistance.

Another thing to look for on the Russian when apart. Remove the 510 adjuster screw, then tightly hold the positive wire block held on by the air tube and tighten the air shaft screw snug, not overly tight but enough to make it secure, and reinstall the 510 contact screw. If this still doesn't work and your resistances still fluxuate, then you need to replace the hidden air shaft insulator, or the positive block insulator, or both. A pretty simple operation to replace the insulators, only 2 screws to remove then a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the positive block insulator off, and push the air shaft insulator out. Fat Daddy Vapes and Kidney Puncher generally carry these insulators (generally called Kayfun Deck insulators, etc).

I agree. When ive had a short my MVP2 will read either 0.0 or non.

OP I would clean the pin on the MVP and try to pull it up a little. Like Joe said, you don't need to tighten the tank down really hard. I usually tighten it down all the way then back it off about a 1/4 turn then run the beauty ring up to it in order to keep it tight. This has worked well for my AeroTank2 and Nautilus Mini.

I am not familiar with your device. I'm assuming that the resistance readings are as per noted by your device.

Sounds like everyone has given you great suggestions.

As a routine method of trouble shooting, do you have an ohm meter and/or multimeter to take resistance readings of your atties?

agreed. the center pin issue is one of the mvps achilles heels. if you look for ecf user: cpt. shay, he has a blog that describes various fixes for the center pin issue.

All previous answers are valid to troubleshoot for.

The Russian's mounting blocks which hold the post screws for the coil can be a real pain. They must be aligned perfectly or they will create a short. Make certain they are aligned and tight by using a pliers to keep them straight while tightening the 510 connector screw of the Russian with a flathead screwdriver. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/446327-russian-91-kayfun-lite-clone-twist-30.html#post10829484

Fiddling with the center pin and making sure the mounting blocks are aligned seemed to partially do the trick! The Russian is now reading the correct resistance however the iClear is still reading 1.2 ohm above what it should be so I suspect it's a defective coil. However, I still get much more vapor and more of a throat hit from the iClear.

Any ideas how to fix this? I'm considering going into a B&M tomorrow and begging them to help me - even though I bought the Russian online.

Aaaaand now my iClear won't even fire - resistance just reads NON. Russian fires at 1.9 ohm but still weak vapor production. This is driving me nuts!
Did you try prying up your MVP's center pin? our Russians center may be long enough to reach the center pin of your battery. Your iClea's center pin may be shorter. Center Pin Issue - Fixing a non firing eGo battery

I think what happened is you fiddled with your R91 and extended its center pin. The you tightened the R91 too much and pushed the pin down even further so now your iclear won't reach.
ding ding ding.. we have a winner!

where should we deliver the chicken dinner good sir?

I have a version 1 Russian 91 which lacks a spring loaded center pin (example of V1 and V2. V1 on the left)

So I can't really extend it without the mounting board becoming loose - so I'm hoping to pry up the center pin on my MVP 2. I've been using a small screwdriver and a hairpin to gently lift it up but to be honest, I can't seem to tell if it even moves. It seems like my MVP's center pin is stuck as it doesn't move

LOL......I been trying to post that for a bit but they keep expecting me to do actual work for my pay here. They just don't understand that there is a vaper in need.
