Hello fellow vapers,

First, an introduction:
My name is J.
(That's one letter, say: jay. ...actually stands for "James", long story omitted.).
I was born & raised in VA , lived in NYC these past 25 years, been a cigarette smoker close to 40.

(Short) vaping history:
I discovered vaping a few months ago and ordered a Blu starter kit (...post cartomizer switch) and it was a Joy and a Revelation. Finally, I had a nicotine delivery system that pressed all my cigarette 'buttons' with none of the carcinogenic byproducts of burning tobacco. (Well, that's the hope, anyway. Can't be any WORSE for me, can it?). Over the past couple of months, I've graduated (read: spent more money) from Blu to an eGo clone (T-Rex) and, from there, to larger batteries (1100/1300 mah) that can use the same (510) hardware.

Generally, I'm reasonably content with 2.7 (3.2-4) volt vaping on my (fairly standard) 510 gear, although I still fire up a bunch of cigarettes (2-7, depending) every day. I suspect high-voltage will be a waste of money for me but my next large hardware investment will likely be a Variable Voltage mod, probably a Darwin (or whatever is better by the time The Darwin comes back on the market...) so that I can experiment with this idea.

I emphatically do NOT regret starting with a Blu (How cool is that little black ciggy, anyway? ...and they perform more than adequately, these days, considering how teeny the bats are), but the longer life of the eGo (and larger) batteries are now my preference, far and away.

I've experimented a LOT with e-juice flavors and I fear this will become a money-pit. I have a small handful of daily/regular/favorite juices, DOZENS of "Meh, it's alright" juices and I've tossed about 35 (mostly sample) bottles into the trash. I've only been at this about 3 months but I still haven't tasted THE juice flavor that will allow me to easily give up analogs.

I see a lot of members sporting signatures stating how many (hundreds and thousands of) dollars they've "saved" on analog cigarettes. I'm only 3-months into this new habit but I smoked 1.5 packs/day, I live in the most highly taxed city/state in the Union (for cigarettes) and I'm still about $50.00 "in the hole". I think someone might want to consider reprogramming the calculations in those signatures to include vaping expenses...

Some observations (FOR ME):

E-cigs are becoming BIG business, FAST. If I want more than four specific items, no matter WHAT they are, I cannot find them all in stock on the same website, EVER. Some items require weeks of waiting, several want me to get on a list.

Using a 510 atomizer, I REMOVE my drip-tip, to drip.
For me, using an atomizer at the bottom of a well, a drip-tip is more about making the atomizer/cartomizer more comfortable to suck on than it is a dripping-aid. (...is anybody selling e-nipples?...) I have a couple 806's on order that will change that opinion, of course.

Whistle-tips are more comfortable in my mouth but NOT more convenient on a tubular mod. I keep needing to re-orient them to my hand-placement (or change grip to press the button).

Dripping is excellent at my desk but really bites on-the-go. I'd rather buy a pack of cigarettes and suck burning vegetable matter than wrestle with bottles and tissues and drip-tips (oh, my!).

Carts and CE2s/Clear-o-mizers are a waste of my time (or my money). The former cannot hold enough juice to the hot-spot, the latter cannot wick fast enough to keep up with me and turning them upside-down makes them spit.

After some bad CE2's, tanks have no real appeal. Maybe I'm making a mistake but I just cannot bring myself to pull the trigger and buy one.

Dual-coil cartomizers give me an excellent, long-lasting vape. The ones that work (90%, so far).

Clear-sided cartomizers are better than opaque because I SEE the absorbent material dry out before I have to TASTE it. Unfortunately, they malfunction more often and they get very, very ugly after only a few refills.

...that's my 3 months, in a nutshell. Cheers to all!

Nap time!

Welcome, glad to hear from you! You have really done the dance. I have had some sucess diying my own juice- you know, playing chemist. It is less expensive, since I can't settle on a taste for too long. You might want to play with at it too. One of the best parts is, when you get a just okay premade juice, you can doctor it with your diy supplies. Get little 3mil bottles, some flavorings and go to town. I haven't tried a bottem feeder yet, but Liv2ski makes sense there from the preferences you stated in your introduction. And I, like you, have not saved a penny. However, I FEEL better. So that's worth some cash!
