ok So i've had my ego for a couple weeks now and i am in love. Way better vape for me than my blu and i've been able to stay away from the analogs easily. I got the pass through version and it's great. I keep it plugged in to the pc while i'm at my desk and just unplug and screw on the batt cap when i leave my desk. In the past couple weeks I have not once run out of power.

I've tried the carts and atomizers, the drip tip, and the cartomizers and have decided i prefer the vape i get from the cartomizer the best.

I've read several of the different methods of refilling the cartomizers but I'm not quite sure i'm getting it. They just don't seem to be lasting as long on the refill as they did on the initial fill, which leads me to believe i'm not filling them up even though i'm seeing juice come out of the top (condom filling method) or the battery (syringe filling method) while filling. any hints or tips would be appreciated.

also, i need to get some more cartomizers before these burn out..... don't want to have to buy a pack o ciggs. Now the Ego specific cartomizers cost more than the 510 cartomizers... what exactly is the difference and are they interchangeable? Cignot has the ego ones at $17 per pack of 5 and the 510 ones at $8 per pack of 5...... what is the difference?

ok Wall of text complete lol and thanks

The eGo cartomizers are great big...as big around as your eGo. The 510 cartomizers (what I use on my eGo) are smaller....the size of an atomizer, roughly. That's likely what you have now. I prefer those to the eGo ones (big, big ones).... Also, the ones you have may just be wearing out. The filler finally get's sorta packed down and they quit working as well as they did at first. That's why they're considered disposable.

I get the 510 cartos for about $8.00 for a 5 pack and I can usually refill them maybe 10-15 times before they just sorta poop out...they get hard to get vapor out of.

mega type B.. straight cylinder
I bought type B 'cuz I wanted more fluid
got myself 2 atty's & carts + 2 carto's ( 1 was free :)
they have been keeping me pretty happy
go to a site like liberty flights (where I got mine)

Ego mega carto's hold more liquid, I didn't care for them personally they had a burnt taste after awhile.. I think probably because I vaped to quickly and maybe burnt the filler I never bothered to dissect them. The Boges are good they usually cost about $7-8 a 5 pack, I also like the CE2's. Can't help with the bottom filling method I've always filled from the top.

I prefer the Boge 510 cartos right now, though I hear the CE2's are real nice as well. the Joye 510 cartos are a PITA to fill because you either have to use the condom method or use a syringe. With the Boge cartos you just pop the cap off and drip into it. Just make sure you don't drip directly into the center hole, otherwise it will just run through. The Joye 510 cartos were my first ones and they were just annoying, not to mention after just 2-3 refills they began getting that burnt taste really bad.

The eGo Mega cartomizers that you're asking about need a syringe to fill. They hold 2mL of liquid but you can usually only vape about 1/2mL before you'll get a burnt taste. At least, this is my experience, and I've seen others post the same experience. The flavor is not nearly as good using the eGo Mega cartos (which are plastic and taste like plastic) as the Boge 510 soft cap cartos (which are metal) from litecigusa.net. I tried five of the eGo Megas and decided to stick with the Boge 510 cartos. Then I recently switched to the KR808D-1 (also metal) cartos, because they have better flavor and a smoother vape than the Boge 510 cartos, at the same price of 7.95 for a box of five at litecigusa.

Also, you can usually get more liquid into the filler of a cartomizer by dripping directly into it, compared to using the condom method (which floods the filler, causing some of the liquid to drain back out). You just have to wait a few seconds longer when dripping to allow the liquid to soak into the filler a little slower.

If you choose to drip into the carto filler, hold the carto at a 45-degree angle. It's okay if liquid goes down the center hole, because it will seep sideways into the filler while it's draining down. A drop might end up draining outside of the hole at the threaded end, but most of it will go sideways into the filler.

I've never use the Joye 510 cartomizers and don't plan on buying any. They are also plastic and normally need a syringe to fill, but some people drip into the hole at the threaded end. I don't have the time to do that and don't like the taste of plastic, so I just stick with the KR808D-1 cartos (after using the Boge 510 cartos for about two months).

The KR808D-1 cartos need an adapter to work with eGo batteries. I bought several adapters at goodprophets.com for 99 cents each. The type of adapter is 510-battery to 808/901-atomizer. They work great, and now I have a much smoother vape with better flavor and the same amount of vapor.

Deback, I recommended not dripping into the center hole because even holding at a 45 degree angle with the Boge 510 cartos the juice seems to run out the end much quicker. Sure, sometimes juice will go there when dripping into the filler, but as a rule, don't drip directly into the center. That was what made me ruin a few cartos initially. I was just dripping straight down into it and they got clogged up and for some reason they just would not unclog, whether I soaked them, used alcohol, etc. That is the one thing I can say about the Joye 510 cartos... They never seemed to clog, but once they begin to give a burnt taste, it never goes away. Ever since I began dripping into the Boge cartos directly into the filler, and not in the center, they've worked out much better for me.

Dripping directly into the center hole should not clog a carto, since the liquid will drain sideways into the filler and most of the excess will drain straight down the center hole and out of the hole at the threaded end.

I'm not recommending dripping into the center hole -- because that will waste juice when some of it runs out the other end. I was saying that juice going down the center hole will be absorbed sideways into the filler. I've always said to hold the carto at a 45-degree angle (to prevent wasting juice and to get the juice into the filler quicker).

The reason cartos become clogged is due to overfilling and not from dripping into the center hole. And, yup, cleaning or flushing them out, whether you soak them or not, usually won't unclog a carto that's been ruined for one reason or another. If you ruined a few cartos initially, it would be due to some other reason than dripping into the center hole. The juice might have been thick, clogged up the filler due to overfilling, and wasn't blown out soon enough to get rid of the excess juice. The best way to unclog a carto is to blow a few times through the mouth end while holding a tissue at the other end. That's what I do if I get a gurgling sound; just blow a time or two into the mouth end, and it fixes the clogged problem.

Think about this: When people use the condom method to fill cartos, the entire inside of the carto gets soaked with liquid, including the center hole. The excess will drain out into the condom when the carto is pulled out of the condom. So, it makes no sense that getting liquid in the center hole will clog a carto.

I went through 85 cartos in the first 9½ weeks and have been rotating the 86th through 100th cartos for the last week. Each of the 85 cartos was refilled about 20 times, give or take a couple of times. A few of them became clogged or something would happen that would cause harder draws. When that happened, I would just throw that carto in the discard container. I did experiment with cleaning some of them and found it didn't help any or would make them worse, so I quit cleaning cartos.

Happy vaping!

Yeah, I am sure I was overfilling on the first few, but it was also with Maiden Coffee, which is really thick and syrupy. I have since stopped using that flavor for the most part, especially since I got more FSUSA juices on hand, and haven't had any more clogging issues. So perhaps that might be a flavor best used with an atty instead.

Yea, you could be right. I know I've had a few cartos (usually the Boge 510s) that had hard draws, so I assumed they got clogged for some reason. I have a feeling many of those were from flushing them out, which might have rearranged something inside that caused the hard draws. So, no more flushing for me!
