Hi,

Been at this for about 6 weeks, started on the Janty Ego-T, and it was great til it started leaking everywhere.

So, I bought the Bud Sapphire Hybrid Tank / Atomizer. It creates a lot of vapor and I can taste the juice fairly well, but I also get a weird taste, that I will try to describe. I get the same taste in all 3 atomizers that I received, each with a different ejuice. The taste is something like the smell of a wet dog on a rainy day, but not as strong. Imagine soaking a piece of linen cloth in stale water, then storing the damp cloth in a dark container for 3 weeks, then vaping it.

I recently got the same taste from my 6-week old Ego-T attys after popping off the wick/puncture tip, rinsing in water, then immediately dry-burning the unit (with wet coil), rinsing the ash, and dry-burning again. This was an Ego-T atty cleaning procedure found on Youtube. I didn't have this taste in the Ego-T before doing this method.

Strange that I'm getting the same taste from old, badly cleaned Ego-T attys and the new Bud Sapphire attys.

I'm hoping my brief description rings a bell with someone more experienced who can tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.

Many thanks in advance,
Brian

EDIT: Also, I haven't been feeling quite well after vaping on these attys for a while. Not sure if feeling a bit nauseous is related to the taste from the attys, but I thought it worth mentioning.

If the attys had primer on them it would taste and smell more like machine oil.

Can you blow out the attys and drip on them without the tank to see if it is a flavor in the tank? I am unfamiliar with them. I thought they were cartomizers. Sometimes when plastic things are manufactured they may have the flavor of a release agent on them. If you think it is the tank, any way to clean it or empty and then refill with fresh juice?

It's a tank system combined with an atty. I've heard people on youtube refer to them as hybrid attys, and at least one reviewer called it a cartomizer. In two videos, neither of the reviewers blew out primer from the atty. I wondered about, so I tried and didn't get anything - I mean nothing - it was completely dry. I only tried to blow out one atty; I assumed the other two attys would be similar.

The taste isn't like primer / machine oil.

The vape is dry and gives a bit of a tingly sensation when exhaling through the nose. Not sure if that's related either, though. I don't mind the tingly sensation much, it's the taste that is the real problem.

Maybe I should just buy a bottom feeder!

When you blow out an atty you have to reprime it with juice and let that soak in, then taste. if that tastes fine then the problem is the tanks. If it's not possible to do that on a Sapphire then I don't know. Some people have reported an unpleasant flavor is some other brands of plastic cartos or tanks when new (if the coil is inside the carto would be primer or just some kind of plastic flavor)

Lemme see if I can find any threads about Sapphire problems. I use stuffing cartos - Boge.

(this one mentions off taste)
