I have a vamo and a VW eGo backup. I have six pints of PG, and bottles of 50/50/3mg mixed base. Wick and wire. Flavorings. Plenty of clearos and some cartotanks with a supply of cartos. Down the road a bit, I am going to replace my CE5's with some inexpensive fastech BCC's.

I think this is doable-- does anybody else have experience with cutting vaping cost to the bare bones, especially through mixing and coiling?

Not me. I used to spend close to $150 a month on cigs.....so my vape budget has always been $75/month....half of that.

I do build my own coils , and have been really considering getting into DIY liquid. I'd like to cut my costs down to $30/month....which is definitely do-able, with room to even get a delivery device or something every month as well.

$5 does seem really, really low though. Why so low? I could see if you are trying to really save money, dropping down to $15-20/month.....but under that really leaves NO room for ANYTHING except the bare minimum.

How are you going to order new flavors to mix in your DIY liquid....or order a new clearo or delivery device if you need/want one?

The initial investment cost quite a bit. Yes, I am not counting the initial investment-- just getting ready for a time with minimal income (summertime for a substitute teacher on SS). And, basically, cotton, wire, and vg would be the usual-- with buying in larger quantities or avoiding shipping costs for weighty items.

Major equipment failures would be a worry.

If you get a good amount of the initial supplies and DIY for e liquid, that is definitely doable. For a tank, I would choose something that is rebuildable, like a PT2 and a few extra coils, then order 100ft of kanthal and buy a bag of organic cotton balls. Theoretically, you could spend $0 per month (if you don't count the electricity to charge your batteries) until you run out of DIY supplies.

I am expecting wire, ego charger, 18650 battery today. Two cartotanks probably Monday, an equipment fix for a common problem and a few bottles to fill out the order sometime next week. Once those come through, I will replace the CE5's with BCC's, and set aside the CE5's. Beyond that, if I keep to my resolution, there is nothing that I need.

If you're looking for inexpensive BCC's (and can wait a bit) I'd recommend you take a look at these
(you can get them in singles for a bit more..):

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1609800 (CE5-R)
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1640900 (Mini-Vivi Tank)
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1369401 (EVOD)

I was very surprised with the CE5-R's. They look like a CE5 but are BCC's. My favorites, partly because I switch flavors often.
The Vivi Tanks, despite (or perhaps because) being all plastic, give me a nice warm vape.
The EVOD's are a staple/standard and perform very well.

Edit: Also, because FT ships free regardless of order amount you could order a couple of each...

Love doing things on a budget.

Take a few minutes to Google the Envelope System by Dave Ramsey. Use that as a budgeting tool, and you'll find some extra space in the budget.
Interesting. I will see if I can find some monopoly money. I really like to have a better record of my expenditures, like debit card statement, but the other system is a bit more concrete.

This is an even better deal.

I figure that since I have a strange desire to always be expecting vapemail, the slow boat is the best cure for that.

Thanks a boatload. You just added another 5 months to my Break-Even (couldn't get just one, sigh....)

I do agree, my spending showed signs of slowing down when I made it a rule not to have more than 1 order in progress at once. (It would have helped more if I actually stuck to that rule!)

$5 a month would be cutting it pretty close for most. I buy premixed 100% pg juices and cut them with Humco VG to save a few bucks and ease the throat hit and get more vapor production. I'm winding more coils these days, but still buying a few here and there when I don't find time to wind. I'll spend $40 bucks or more when I replace supplies, but that only happens every 6 to 8 weeks. I haven't run a cost projection but I'd say I spend at least $20 a month or more doing it the way I do it and I consider that fairly frugal.

In the OP I didn't see a cost total for the supplies mentioned or a projection of how long they might last. You'd have to add up the cost of everything, project the usage time for the supplies, and go from there to see how much per month. It's spreadsheet time!

Might be a good idea, actually, although having only one course in accounting under my belt, I hadn't thought of getting that involved.

No problem. Thank you. I figure the more I advertise that deal, the longer it will take to receive it, once I place an order.
