Thanks. All of you. I have saved this thread and will follow through on it as instructed. Guessing its time to start getting confident with tools. Might have to buy one first..

It seems to be the only way or allow your pocketbook to be gauged..... Could be dangerous for anyone within 2 feet of me though :)

Got it. Am learning a lot reading FT pages along with this forum.

Thanks all!

Hey, I do want to be clear. The 2 Kayfuns pictured here require NO tools at all to build. I simply bought the various parts and then they fit together.

The only thing you need tools for is the actual building of the coil, etc. but that is true with all rebuildables.

Is it rebuilding coils that you are learning about and feel the need for tool knowledge?

No, I saw something in one of the posts that spoke of needing to drill this or that......at the mention of a drill, my eyes spun around so glad to hear that this is not the case and even more of a reason to go buy right away............will have to look back to see were i got that from so thanks for the clarification as it suddenly became even more attractive for this tool challenged female :)

coils are fine, etc

Love this. I have trouble wrapping the wires around those little screws. Is there a base with the pass through holes instead? thanks so much
Well the Orchid style Atties have the posts with the pass though holes. The base and the chimneys, are unique to the Orchid. Most of the other Kayfun parts work with them, so you have a lot of options to customize them as well. The Orchids are for dual coils though and you can't build single coils on them easily without leaking. Also they have a ton more airflow. If your into sub ohms and massive airflow, these are pretty good. Not my style of vaping, but a lot of people like them. Also, the lemo style Atties have the screw in posts. I don't belive any Kayfun parts work with them though.

Edit: You don't have to wrap the wires around the screws, they just have to catch under the screw heads. Sometimes I grab the ends of the wire with tweezers to make it easier to position them under the screws.

That's just to give them more airflow for a lighter draw. If your fine with the airflow with the airflow screw taken out, you don't need to take a drill to them. People who like to lung hit typically will do this, if that's not how you vape, it's probably OK for you un modified.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion... the drilling is absolutely not required to build these 2 Kayfuns.

I drill all my Kayfuns because I like a larger airflow but definitely not a requirement. Again, sorry for the confusion and glad all clear now.

Post up some pics when you get yours and build 'em!

Got mine yesterday. Had a serious ... moment though. The plactic bell cap piece would not thread on to the base. After some sitting and staring, followed by some pouting, I figured if I was going to be out the money anyway, might as well play with it a bit. After an hour of screwing/unscrewing, I finally got it to start straight, more persistence and I was able to finally get it to thread all the way on. Judging by the amount of dust inside it every time, I basically ended up cutting new threads.

Still waiting on some more odds and ends, then will post pics.

That is an issue with some of the fastech stuff. Quality is hit or miss. For example, I have three of their top fill caps because the first one I ordered the holes wouldn't line up into a closed position. I ordered two on my next order and both were fine. I ordered the variety bag of clear plastic Kayfun tanks and the smoked grey one is just small enough in diameter that it can't screw on to any Kayfun rings. They sell things dirt cheap, but the consistency isn't there. That's why I generally order at least two of everything, still cheap and I might actually wind up with two things that work great...

Good point!
I shall remember to do the same, buy in twos..

Fasttech has refunded several items for me that have come defective. It's a hassle because they require pics, etc. but I'm a OCD on being a spend thrift so I have done it a couple of times.

But, overall, I've had a very good experience.

Good to hear.
already gave up on one piece they sent me that was wrong but it was a grey area so I knew i could not push it and wrote off the $7 only because it wasn't that much and I figure over all i have saved money but i don't want that happening often or it makes the money saved, less and less.
I ignored it that one time.

But then i ordered something for $11.65 and paid an upgrade shipping fee of only $0.98 rather than the e-packet of $2.50. Only because i was playing around trying to see how long orders took for this fee or that fee. I have since discovered its just best to pay the $2.50 e-packet unless its just an extra something or other you might not even need for 3-4 months at which point you dont care if it takes 30 days to arrive.

But ordered it on March 16th and with the fee it should have arrived within 2-3 weeks in Toronto but 3 days ago it hit the 30 day mark and still no package.
I wrote to them asking if they could track it as it had come though the one mail service I detest where nothing can be tracked and it hadnt even hit Canada yet telling me it's likely lost.

They wrote back and told me that since it had passed the threshold of 30 days I now had to wait another 60../sighs, I didnt even care about my momey back but would have at least appreciated them if they had just sent out another package right away.
With all the money they make, I think thats the least they could have done but apparently they didnt agree.
I am guessing they only do so and at that late date in order to see if it goes back to them?
Otherwise I assume they havent any proof that you did not receive it. Or so I assumed but you woudl think that they woud look at the other 50 orders I have made that have all made it and thought perhaps i might be telling them the truth.

I am hoping they know more than I do and will give it one more week to see IF per chance it somehow was delayed but if i dont receive it by then, than I wont be in any way impressed by their attitude.
Granted, out of about 35 orders in the past couple of months, thats the only one thats so far gone astray. ;(

I am surprised youd get your money back, pictures at al to be honest. i dont imagine they like to do that at all judging by their reaction to my request! ;(

So just about to order the stuff needed for this DIY creation but i'd hate to be one part away from completing it and have to wait an extra 3 weeks to fire it up lol

I am waiting on an á la carte Orchid. I use my Orchids as single coils, and have conquered the leaky problem. I use a bit of cotton in the airhole on the unused side, and lead halves of my wick between the posts onto the unused side.

Here is an alternative to the top-fill cap: $1.65 Replacement Top Nut for Kayfun V4 - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping $1.89 Replacement Lower Part of the Topcap for Kayfun V4 - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
It is less expensive, and less fussy.
