I use 32 Kanthal A1, 5 or 6 wraps. For the main wick, I use silica, but for the flavor wicks I use cotton yarn. That way I can dry burn the silica when needed, and replace the flavor wicks easily.

The gauge used will have an effect on the final resistance. So that's not a "hard rule", but a matter of personal preference. You can use a different gauge for a different value.

Some use cotton, bamboo or other natural fibers for all the wicks. (Or Ekowool, or stainless mesh, or...) That, too, is a matter of preference and / or convenience.

I do "torch" the wire - a regular lighter works fine - to both remove any residual oils from manufacture and to make the wire behave better. I don't do anything to the wick other than install it and trim to fit.

I use 32 gauge Kanthal A1, 3mm silica wick, I wrap 5 times. and I also take a bic lighter to both the wire and wick before building.

I do not use any flavor wicks, and very seldom do I have any flooding of gurgling no matter how low the liquid in the tank gets

I do this on T3's, Protanks, Protank mini's, and eVods

Hi Peeps, this is probably wrong place for this question, but I will ask anyhow!

What gauge wire and wick type is best for Evod bcc? And should I always burn wire and wick first before making coil? Any help appreciated!! Thanks x x

I use 2mm silica wick, and 32g kanthal wire.

Anywhere from 2-3mm silica wick should be perfect.....and I wouldn't use ANYTHING besides 32g kanthal wire.

I do about 5/6 wraps, and get around 2.1-2.4ohms I think. More wraps for higher ohms, less wraps for less ohms.

You can experiment with how much flavor wick, if any, you like.

Lately I've been taking the 2mm silica, and double wrapping it, then wrapping the 32g wire over that. So it comes out to 4mm silica wick basically, and obviously when I do that I don't use any additional silica for the flavor wick.

I just recoiled one with 32g Kanthal, 6/0 (1mm) 100% cotton braided candle wick (it swells when wet), no flavor wick, and 4 wraps to get 1.5 ohms. It's vaping like a beast on my Twist at 3.4 volts.

I originally bought the 6/0 size wick to double up, but thought I'd experiment with a single strand when I saw how much it swelled. No leaks, gurgling, or problems after 3 tanks in my Evod, so I consider it a success!

So I should buy some 32g wire then, is it going to be thicker than the 20g I have already got, sorry if that is a dumb question! Thanks all for replies, it's good to know others experiences and good advice too...

the higher the number, the thinner the wire... 20g ??? Really? That's like just below speaker wire... you could heat a house with that! (maybe 30g perhaps?)

the thicker the wire, the less the ohm drop, or the more current it can carry. To get a higher ohm you need a thinner wire.

Just rebuilt 6 heads
Sewing needle for wrapping/installation
2mm silica for main wick
32ga. Kanthal A1
5 wraps for 1.9ohms
6 wraps for 2.2ohms
2 (1mm) flavor wicks

I leave the needle in place(under wick) until the grommet and pin are in place and wire leads pulled/snipped.
I find installing the flavor wicks super simple. Using 1 long piece folded to match ends. Lay into slot, insert pipe slip to length and snip excess loop. Done!
